Specter sells out on NSA bill proposal
But most of you hardened cynics saw that coming. I know I did.
Specter Offers Compromise on NSA Surveillance

By Walter Pincus
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, June 9, 2006; Page A04

Hard to decide which part is my favorite.

But probably this part:

"Another part of the Specter bill would grant blanket amnesty to anyone who authorized warrantless surveillance under presidential authority, a provision that seems to ensure that no one would be held criminally liable if the current program is found illegal under present law."

3. Lipstick on a Pig
Specter tries to make like he's not just another White House lap dog. But after all, he is a Republican.

4. Did he go to the McCain School or did McCain go to his?
Snakes in the grass, both of them. They are not "moderates" but rather opportunists.

7. I think that's pretty much the bottom line.
So many of them are dirty, it is difficult for them to enforce the laws, the rules, or anything else, because all the accused has to do is say, "Well, I happen to know about the time you...and I have the proof to back it up. Now, do you want to continue this?" And of course, that's when the deal is made.

I say out with all of the bums, if they can't stand the scrutiny of what they've been doing in office, they need to be thrown out!

8. Umm...he's a Republican. What part of that don't you understand?
Why do we give Specter so much bandwidth when he acts like a Republican?

10. Republican Shill sells out to Republican administration: Shocking!
Not.

I don't understand why so many seem eager to give respect to Magic Bullet Specter.

This guy has been a POS for 30 years!

12. As for the substance of the bill and *the point of the post*
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 09:51 PM by chill_wind
how's blanket amnesty grab you. Okay if I mention that?

Hey don't shoot ME, people. I'm just the casio player and I've already registered my contempt for his politics elsewhere. I understand that he's a republican shill and worse JUST FINE.

Point is, nothing more, nothing less: his proposal has predictable- but no less abhorrant- consequences that merit awareness and serious opposition. Kind of hard to bring this latest development to anyone's attention without mentioning his (name that shall not be named), or role. Oy!
