I am sick of all of this hate.
I have never felt hate like I have felt the past five years or so. I read the news and see all of the shit this administration is doing to our country, how the people are getting screwed, and I want to hurt them. I am not a violent person by nature, but these people bring out the worst in me. I hate them all. If you support them, I hate you, too.

These criminals sit there and have a big laugh at our expense. They pad their bank accounts and IRAs at our expense. They enjoy excellent benefits at our expense. They play their little war games at our expense. I fucking hate them.

All of this hate is eating me up inside...I need to get rid of it. I have been told to "don't take it so seriously -- there's nothing you can do." Oh yeah, good advice. Fuck that. I am taking it seriously!! My country is being destroyed from the inside...that's pretty serious.

It is time for me to get off my ass and channel this hate into something good. I want my country back. I want a world that my children can grow up in. I want to feel good about my country and my president.

I don't want to hate anymore.

1. I feel your pain.
Seriously.

I think that Depression is anger turned inward. The alternative in this case, anger turned outward, is Revolution. And that is a step that gives us all pause.

3. There's a fuse burning in this country
BushCo and the Repugs lit it. Will the Democrats be strong enough to put it out before it's too late? I wouldn't like to make any bets.

9. Will the bushbots see their country on a downhill mode
caused by Bush and accept it? That is the question.

10. "...anger turned outward, is Revolution."
It is not yet time. There is still a chance, but if that chance fails I think we may be obligated to proceed. Thanks for your post.

2. I can't blame anyone for feeling hatred --
I think it's natural in these circumstances -- but I honestly feel that beyond a certain point, it clogs us in our extremely important work.

For one thing, the example of great leaders shows that we will gain strength if we can continually reach out to all who might be at all persuadable. We can only do this effectively if we are sincerely open to them.

4. We used to have a country we could be proud of to do the moral thing
and lead the world.

W cares only about corporate globalism. His war in Iraq was to achieve that goal. He did so.

He knowingly and willingly ordered our troops to fight a country that was never a threat.

W sold us down the river and I have nothing but utter contempt for the bushbots who allowed him to do so by their votes. I think they have their own special place in hell, if you believe in such things.

They were either evil or stupid. The cost to our innocents and Iraqi innocents can be seen at www.icasualties.org.

5. Gotta DO Something
I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes it just sends chills down my spine. Sometimes the hate burns hot in my gut. Then my family says "Dad, stop screaming at the television!"

The Bushists have fomented this. I've thought about this since January 2001. THEIR guy is the one who got fewer votes than John Kerry, then declared "elections have consequences," and behaved like he had a "mandate." What a crock.

If we can TAKE BACK THE HOUSE, the Dem's in Congress can use the subpoena power to start peeling back the layers of corruption and stink. If we don't, the true evil may never be known. That prospect alone should be enough to dirty up this proud and wonderful democracy, the world's oldest.

Gotta DO something to help that out. Or else explode.

7. Yep. W and the religious right has acted as if they had a mandate
Gore was the choice for president but W was rammed down our threats, and the little bastard claimed to have a mandate for his far right wing ideas. Then 2004 happened, where Rove went out and solicited the right wing Christians who thought W would turn the country into a theocracy turned out for him.

W has split our country in every way possible to cause the utmost division. His one goal is to steal from the poor to give to the rich.

6. They Are Not Worthy of Our Hatred
I don't hate them. They can't make me hate them.

I DO think they need to be locked up in the Hague where they can't do any more harm, however.

8. I hate anyone who harms our country
Especially for redistribution of the wealth from the working class to the rich. Yes, I hate them.

11. I have felt the exact same way, driver8.
As is the case with you, my friends and family told me I was letting my disgust for the right-wing thugs to adversely affect my life. I tried to register my protest by writing a few newspaper "letters to the editor" and speaking out at a public meeting against touch-screen voting machines, but the results were not very satisfying. I was involved with a local progressive group, but that effort seemed to take more time that it was worth. So, I decided to back off a bit. Sure, I still read the blogs and plan to get involved in the fall election. In the meantime, I plan to take in a few ball games and enjoy the summer. My advice is for you to take a break from obsessing over the corrupt neo-cons and the unenlightened masses which have let those crooks consolidate their power. Truth will out, eventually.
