No link seen between La. granny, sausage looting

GRETNA, La. -- A church deaconess and great-grandmother jailed for two weeks after being accused of looting sausage during Hurricane Katrina will not be prosecuted.

Merlene Maten, 73, learned of the decision Wednesday when she appeared in court for her arraignment, said her attorney, Daniel Becnel III. snip

Kenner police spokesman Capt. James Gallagher said he was surprised the charge was refused. AP

1. Too bad she didn't rip off people for millions in pensions
She could be as immune from the law as Kenny Boy seems to be. You remember him, don't you, America?

2. From the article, a quote from granny
"My God tells me it's best to give than to receive"- she must not worship the same god as republicans. Seriously, though, this is crazy. People that bust in windows for TV's and VCRs are looters. People trying to get the bare necessities of life (ie food) aren't. Of course, if FEMA would have had a plan for this catastrophe, instead of worrying about the fashion look of its director, none of that would have been necessary.

3. Is this the lady who was getting her own food from her own trunk
of her own car and they falsely accused her? If I remember correctly she and her husband evacuated to a safer place and she'd taken along food and clothing. When she went to her vehicle to retrieve it, they arrested her because a store in the vicinity had things being taken by other people.
