Regardless of where I get a news story, I try to double or even triple check its validity, especially if it is important.
I trust DU but I am aware that even here mistakes are made and that sometimes fake stuff will be planted. One thing I try hard not to do is repeat anything I've read until I can verify it because I have been made a fool of before not doing so.

...with commentary from like-minded compatriots. Very reliable. But we swim in a media undergoing intense INFORMATION WAR-FARE. The oligarchy behind figurehead Bush knows how dangerous the internet is. So you will see agents of dissemination plant false stories through naive sources that serve to erode the credibility of alternative press/blogs/etc. We witnessed such an event here just a few weeks ago.

Cyberwar, you should know, is a major subject of the PNAC blueprint for "Rebuilding America's Defenses", which frames and feeds the National Security Strategy of the United States (posted on whitehouse gov) -- which in turn says to the world that if any nation attempts to rise up to compete against us, we will use our military might pre-emptively, without the justification of imminent threat, to crush them. We've essentially declared warm war on the rest of the world, albeit with occassional hot skirmishes to serve as example (Afghanistan, Iraq, soon-to-be Iran).

We live in a rogue state, practicing hieghtened State Terror across the globe, subject to know law and that gives at most lip service to democracy through a charade of "free elections". These are dark times, indeed.

Like the Kerry withdrawal resolution co-sponsor. First is was told that Cantwell cosponsored it. Then it was debunked. Somewhere down in the DKos diary, there was a post that someone was in cellphone touch with someone to attempt to get the information on it. I don't know what eventually came of it, but it just shows how authentic these bits of information can be. OK, I just checked, and it was all a mistake. No co-sponsor. Sadly true.

LBN (almost rhymes with "MSM") I take with a grain of salt, and everything else is unsubstantiated rumor. Not every rumor has the same potential or ring of truthfulness, though, nor do they all have the same amount of quality sources.

Maybe my parents just raised me right? Don't question authority; QUESTION EVERYTHING.
