Who exactly are we at war with ??

I just saw a crawler on CNN quoting Tony Snow saying with regards to the murders of Iraqi civilians and the cover-up, " we are at war."

Has there ever been any specific designation of exactly who it is we're supposed to be fighting ? How do the soldiers know who to kill ?

In an earlier report, I heard someone saying the troops that were accused of the Hadithia massacre had just been attacked by Al Qiada forces. Do those guys wear certain uniforms, or have a sign of some sort that identifies them ?

In Nam, we kinda, sorta knew who the enemy was--sometimes-- but I've yet to figure out which Iraqis are the "bad guys." Can any of you smarter people help me out here ......

nor were we in vietnam, nor did we have any clue there who the enemy was either, as 'the enemy' and 'the people of vietnam' were pretty much the same set. Likewise with Iraq. My Lai, Haditha, all woven from the same cloth, and these are the incidents we know about.

17. There is no war...

There is an invasion force on the ground for the sole purpose of occupation. Iraqis are being hunted. (That's what I call it when I see people walking around with a gun in their hands...just look at Cheney) This will forever alter the balance of peace that was established in the East. If BushCo is successful with his plan, Iraq will be hated and despised by every country around them. Before they were loved and adored. If they are not successful, the country will fall to total anarchy due to the lack of a sound government.

19. This is Vietnam. Just in fast motion and more people able to get

the truth out because of the internet. These "bad guy Iraqis" are defending their country against an invader. I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to. It's the only way they can fight. Pull out the invaders and let them run their own country.

Similar (I repeat, SIMILAR) situations may occur but history NEVER repeats itself, ever. That's one myth that should be squashed.

Human behavior is more predictable than how situations will play out, and human behavior is DEFINITELY not yet mastered by either our individual selves or science. These monsters, however, have maliciously played the psy-op button to play their world dominance chess game. Sick fucks. They deserve to personally loose every material freedom they possess,...and then some. I'd like to sit each and every one of them down in front of a screen for 8+ hours straight, EVERY DAY UNTIL THEY PASS, of the atrocities they've committed and show them photo-shopped pics of themselves and their loved ones had they been subjected to such malicious violence. If/when they break down, if ever, reward them with a one month break from confronting their viciousness upon humanity and give them a choice of either writing a letter each day to each victim and every American they deceived or back to punishment for monstrosities.

I am a human rights advocate but,...these are people who seriously deserve what they delivered, short of death. I would never wish death upon them because I want them to LIVE with what "meaning", what "actions", what "behavior" they have delivered unto others. GIVE THEM THE JUSTICE THEY DELIVERED, short of death,....far short of the torture they imposed.

21. Good point. The "war on terror" meme is as vague as it is

useful for an unrelentingly jingoistic administration. We do ourselves a disfavor if we try to address the strawman they offer. It may not be too late to short circuit their fear mongering with a clear recognition that terrorism will not destroy the US. Will not end our way of life. Will not end the movement for self determination around the world. Bushco has played this one out too far, imo. I think folks are getting wise to it all.

We spend an awful lot of time bemoaning the lies that got us to Iraq--correctly so-- but, by exposing the sheer lunacy of the entire adventure helps to rebut the trite excuses for being there.
Fortunately, most Americans now " get it " but these kind of questions help to reinforce the folly and criminality of the administrations actions.
