Help - what did NPR's Michelle Norris say on Tweety this am
STrangest thing on Chicago NBC - on the segment on Chris Matthews show - Tell me something we don't know, NBC chose to run a banner across the top of the screen "TESTING the Emergency Broadcast system" ... Just paranoid enough to think that maybe Michelle had something interesting enough to say that they cut her off with a trumped up test... which I have never seen before and have lived in the area most of my life.

1. Those tests come at the oddest times. Don't put any
significance to the timing.

2. We have had a long series of severe weather the last
several weeks - its not like they don't use the system at least once a week for an actual storm... just damn weird we thought.

Go to NPR's site to see if there are audio's of the segment you are asking about. What show was it?

4. Understood. But tests were once put
on between shows - like a commercial.

7. That was back when TV was a public service.
Now it is about selling products and right wing philosophy. The shows are only loss leaders.

5. It's likely their EAS Encoder software or equipment
Automatically runs the required weekly test at a random time. Those EAS tests are logged too, IIRC, which would make it hard for an operator to run an EAS test as a way of censoring part of a broadcast.
