CNN Seeks Story Ideas
What would you like to see on Prime News with Erica Hill? CNN Headline News's Prime News with Erica Hill is currently seeking story ideas. Please let them know what kind of programming you would like to see at [email protected]. She is on before the conservative Glen Beck Show. Please re-post as need be. Again that's [email protected]

Now THAT'S a story the American people need to hear.

Edited on Tue May-23-06 08:35 PM by joemurphy
bloviating pundits.

How about some investigative journalism. There's Enron, Plamegate, Katrina, wiretapping, the WMD debacle, the reluctance of the Senate to investigate the White House's use of intelligence, the environment, global warming,Abramoff, Rove's connection to the Swiftboaters, Diebold, gasoline prices, Intelligent Design, biased reporting, gerrymandering, the Deficit, health care, poverty, the Minutemen, and how about what's really happening in Iraq?

And she wants ideas?

and tell the story of how a once-proud legitimate news outlet feels the need to spice up its coverage with an unfunny failed rw rock dj
it's a great american tragedy and the segment would write itself

...with everything going on in the world now and they can't figure out what to cover?

If they are really that clueless, they should get out of the journalism business and do something that does not involve intelligence or thinking for themselves.

16. I gave them some good advice
Your hired Glen Beck? The day you hired him is the day I stopped watching CNN.

It literally made me ill to think a reputable news station would hire a bigot like Beck, and Idiot at that, who does nothing but preach hate about Women, and immigrants, he's the shit you wipe off of your shoe.

I don't even need liberal news.. how about REAL stories and not your pandering to the Fox viewers, they will never watch you because they've been told your the liberal press! Being they can't think for themselves nothing you say will sway them, since they are not WATCHING YOU! Maybe you haven't noticed your failing ratings? Because the we can't stand watching you pander to them! It's disgraceful!

We only wish you were at least bipartisan, but these days and with the cast of characters you have for anchors, your not even trying to be bipartisan any more are you?

I watch MSNBC, Olbermann's show because at least he isn't afraid of email from the (what is it now? it sinks ever day) 28% approval rating and the backwash that will send you misspelled hate mail until the next anchor pisses them off.

It's absurd how low you've guys sunk, who ever you hired back in 2001, fire him. You've lost ratings ever since. Trying to win over the fox crowd or that 28 percent is stupid when there is an 70 percent potential market in the other area, and it's called "we see through his bullshit" market "now start reporting on it"

With frustration,
(named removed) due to McCarthy like syndrome not to mention, NSA and Gitmo
=p

20. My idea.
I read on Democratic Underground (http://democraticunderground.com) that you were looking for story ideas. Here's mine.

I like to see a story on how people are looking to the internet for news rather than watching cable news because the mainstream media has sold its soul to its corporate owners. Example: Gore's movie is coming out dealing with global warming. What does the press do? Ridicule the man, talk about Love Story, and Gore created the internet. These were 2000 tactics the press used to discredit Gore and give Bush as pass.

There's another story idea. In 2000, the media gave Bush a pass and ridiculed Gore. Now that we are the closest to a dictatorship in the country, got into a war of choice, and in general, have this country go to Hell in a handcart, how are things working out for the press now that the Chimp in Chief is spying on the press.

How about doing a story and the press corp actually doing its job. Like Helen Thomas and Amy Goodman. Want to do a story on Amy Goodman at http://democracynow.org ?

22. Here's a few ideas I just emailed to them >>>>>>>>>>>
Cheney's involvement in leaking Plame's identity to destroy her cover and that of CIA front-company Brewster Jennings, thereby damaging CIA capability of intel gathering on Iran (as Hersh wrote about in The Coming Wars...go look it up in the New Yorker)

Who is profiting from the Medicare Prescription Drug plan?

What media conglomerate execs are big Bush/Cheney or GOP campaign donors (including the Saudi prince that owns 3-4% of CNN)?

Whatever happened to Phase II of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's report on the White House's pressure on intelligence agencies re: the run-up to the Iraq invasion? Followup: Why is Sen. Roberts so dead-set against the truth?

How much has Neil Bush profited with his software company in pro-GOP countries such as Dubai and in GOP-thick states such as Texs?

Who is profiting from the move to privatize education and provide vouchers to private schools (such as is happening in San Diego and in parts of Florida)?

Why has the Congress not instigated any independent, non-partisan investigations into the many scandals involving the White House and members of the Congress itself?

Why has virtually every aspect of environmental and safety regulation been weakened or eliminated by this administration?

That should keep you all busy for a while. If, that is, you're truly interested in being a member of the Fourth Estate and not just in the infotainment business.

Sincerely,

27. Dear CNN, let's just start in 1999 so you won't be overloaded...
Start with a in-depth profile of Karl ROVE and his dirty tricks. Follow with in-depth on Shrub's National Guard record. Then do a little something on Shrub as empty hat governor of Texas, his record of fat cat enhancements...oh, IVINS might have done that but nobody listened. Then let's get into the history of PNAC and Neo-Cons. ... ad infinitum...

38. This thread is part of our problem...
We've already had people post a few dozen very important issues. For each post on DU, CNN will get 10 emails about 100 different topics important to liberals.

Meanwhile, on FR or similar, they'll send in 100 emails each for 10 important topics. The ones that get 100 emails will get more coverage...

As Will Rogers once said 70+ years ago, "I'm not a member of an organized political party, I'm a Democrat."
