WIESBADEN, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2006--U.S. military personnel stationed at Wiesbaden Army Air Field were paid a surprise visit by leading American Lifestyle Designer Kathy Ireland which included a tour of the base hospital and visits with the wounded men and women in the armed services.

Following her meetings with the hundreds of soldiers, many en route to or from Iraq and Afghanistan, she commented: "My life has been changed by meeting the troops at Wiesbaden. The love, heroism, courage and leadership of these men and women, who serve around the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan, make me understand what it means to be an American and to give everything that is needed for your country."

Ireland's personal holiday gift to American military personnel in the two areas of combat was 70,000 pairs of socks, each with a letter of gratitude from her. Ms. Ireland, who in ten years has built her product empire Kathy Ireland Worldwide, which began with the manufacture of socks, into a home design firm with gross retail sales of over a billion dollars a year, is visiting Germany on behalf of the U.S. Department of Commerce to represent American business interests in commercial gatherings on this continent.

1. And the troops will enjoy them even more if they get home with both feet.

3. Kathy Ireland socks have aloe vera

Posted April 12, 2005

When I go to the gym, I need all the help I can get—and that includes these great new Kathy Ireland Socks from Moretz. Made with Coolmax and infused with tiny beads of aloe vera, the socks wick away sweat while softening heels and calluses during a workout. They’re also low-maintenance: the socks are machine washable, and the aloe vera infusion lasts through about 35 washings. It sounds crazy, but my feet really did feel great during my run, and I transitioned from my Reeboks to my new pair of flats with no sweat (or pain) at all.

$9.99 for two pairs at moretzsports.com.
