Is the Iraqi government becoming stable enough to execute Saddam?
George W Bush is a small, spiteful, and vengeful person who would never think of leaving Iraq until Saddam was out of the way. Once Saddam is executed, Bush will immediately begin withdrawing the troops. His "mission" will then truly be accomplished.

Up to this point, there has not been a government stable enough to get rid of Saddam without fear of a civil war. But now, the hope is there. They may be ready to finally execute the dictator? Then Dubya can return to a more civil life. After all, this is not about Saddam - this is about Dubya Bush.

1. Stability and the noose are not related.
"Up to this point, there has not been a government stable enough to get rid of Saddam without fear of a civil war."

There is nothing at all fundamentally different about this latest Iraqi government. It still is sovereign in so much as we allow it to operate within our fortified green zone, which is to say it is not sovereign at all. Were we to leave tomorrow this Iraqi government would cease to exist and most of it would leave with us.

That said, hanging Saddam is not going to plunge the former nation of Iraq into civil war as it is already there.

Finally, this whole sorry event was never about Saddam: he was a pawn in a much larger game. It has always been about control of the oil reserves in the middle east. That game continues regardless of the vital statistics regarding the former ruler.

2. You are right about it being a game...
Executing Saddam would just be another chapter in the game. Somehow, I think Dubya Bush will get great joy from that event - even moreso than the Iraqis that suffered under his regime? And it's sad to think this man is in charge...

This elitist pig of a person...is so disgusting...the world would be a better place if this, sad piece of shit was never born!
