Why do Democrats fight so ?
Edited on Sat May-20-06 11:03 PM by kentuck
Can't we all just get along? Why can't we agree that every Republican is worse than any Democrat? The distrust of any Democrat is unfounded. In their hearts, all Democrats are good. None are crooks and none are evil. They all have our best interests at heart. In times like these, we should trust every Democrat. We should not question the motives of any Democrat. Lest we be called a traitor to the cause, we must support every Democrat that decides to run for office. They would never betray you. They are not like the Republicans. We have to be totally united to defeat the Republicans. We do not have the luxury of asking anyone to stand for any set principles. :sarcasm:

7. Cool, but a Green vote is the same as a Republican vote
Edited on Sat May-20-06 11:25 PM by Mr_Spock
Just ask Al Gore!

I know it's not nice to point this out as we all should vote our conscience, there are times when one has to decide what is worse - a foul smelling Democrat or a nation-destroying racist bigot Republican.

2. Ike on putting "winning" ahead of principles ...
fwiw, i liked the OP better without the icon ... your intent was clear ...

Ike said: "if a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power." - General Eisenhower, 1956

:wow: :wow: :wow:

Was Eisenhower one the last of his kind? I mean, really, was he? A man who stood on principle, for ethics, for good? Where have all the real leaders gone?

Where I say??? They're not Democrats, that's for damn sure.

3. Lol

Blasphemy, blasphemy I say!

Lol....at first I thought your post was serious and yes I agree with you.

At times it appears that we are not allowed to question our Democratic candidates or elected officials.

Cheers

4. In principle I agree, however
the idea that every Democrat is good and such might be a bit much. All the ones who are ones for the right reasons maybe, but as has been pointed out in other threads about Nagin we've got Republicans who have run as Democrats just to have a chance in some districts. What they do matters more than who they say they are.

Looking at voting records, sure the Dem's are better. If we stop demanding that they actually stand for something though then it all becomes a matter of marketing and branding, they can take the party anywhere they want to go. I'd think most of the fighting is meant more in that direction, and though it could be more restrained at times I'm not so sure it's a bad thing. Helps to keep them honest if you keep on them and expect them to be what they say they are ;)

5. Well, some that use the term Democrats, aren't.
There are those who are not Democrats, however have joined the party. There are those who run as a Democrat and are probably funded by corporations and entities that place them in office for their own agenda.

I would say the test for a true Democrat would be a person that is more regularly connected with and has a legitimate connection with his/her constituents and is a person who consistently votes for the citizen and maintaining their rights and power, and not one who votes in favor of the corporate entities and institutions which are trying to eliminate citizens rights and power.

6. Reality? It's a Labor v. Social Interest issue.
It's an Economic v. Elitist issue.

It's a Rich v. Poor issue.

It's a War Supporter v. War Resistor issue.

It's a lot of serious issues.
