A little blast from the past...
Almost two years ago, my co-editor posted this very, very brief photo essay to our site. I was digging through the old posts today and I found it again. I realized that it's been almost 23 months and looking at it just makes me realize how far we have NOT come in two years time. Same president, same war.

We get hardly any traffic so nobody really saw it when we posted it back then. Normally I don't post links to my site, but since I think this makes such a strong statement in such a brief amount of space, I just had to share this it with DU. It's short but sweet. No fancy flash, no videos, no music -- just a handful of photos from the AP, ABC, and other sources.

Just read the headline and then view the photos and renew your outrage:

4. It really does seem like 2004 was a long time ago...
I remember going to see Kucinich when he came to town in the early summer of 2003. I shook his hand and thanked him for running.

I remember getting my picture taken with Howard Dean and telling him the same thing in January of 2004 before he lost big.

I remember going to see the Kerry family in late summer of 2004 and getting to shake his hand and meet Teresa.

I remember leaving work on election night '04.

I remember the morning after and the ominous haze over the city, blocking out most of the sun. I felt stunned, shaken. I walked into my office and closed the door. I sat staring at the little disk of light in the sky where the sun was behind the thick clouds. It was humid and slightly chilly and the air was so thick with defeat I could barely breathe. I had a terrible headache. I left early that day and drank myself to sleep.

5. I cried most of the day while receiving calls of consolation from
loved ones. All signs pointed to a win. :(

2. That first picture especially stings... Lady Liberty
pulling the switch, electifying the wires to the hooded prisoner.

Our beautiful lady, brought low.
