Ok, so the ice has melted in my champagne bucket. So what?
After seeing Jason Leopold's article about the impending Rove indictment late last week I went out and splurged on some Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame and some Roederer Cystal champagne bottles and by Saturday when I saw Leopold's second article that Rove was in fact indicted Friday, I filled the ice bucket.

Well, the ice has been melted for two days, now, but so what. I can always refill it at any time with fresh ice.

The nice thing is, Fitzgeral will, I believe, any day now, make Rove's indictment a public matter and more ice will be available and I'll start popping corks.

All will be well WHENEVER Mr. Fitzgerald calls his press conference.

5. I don't even care if Jason Leopold got it wrong by now.
I don't care about any bloopers in his last article any more, I just believe that regardless of how it happens, it's going to happen - Fitz will make the announcement one of these days and when it happens, POP go the corks!

14. That's too bad. That used to be something that made us DIFFERENT
from republicans - we used to be the ones who CARED about getting it right.

Sigh.

So much for all the mockery we used to do about "hope is not a plan", eh guys?

Apparently hope IS allowed to be a plan when it suits us.

27. I really thought we were serious about "the reality based community" bit..
Don't get me wrong - I'm second-to-none in my desire to see rove nailed to the wall.

I just want truth, evidence, and the like even more.

Is that so wrong?

29. No, it's not so wrong, and I agree with you. But you're missing my point.
The Leopold stories just got me thinking about it all again, and even though I have as many if not more misgivings about his articles as you, my opinion about an impending Rove indictment isn't dependent on Leopold's articles. The articles at this point just served as a reminder to me of what I already knew about all the evidence pointing to a Rove indictment.

I personally have concluded it's on its way, regardless of the Leopold fiasco.

31. LOL - forgive me for missing "the point" when the subject was....
"I don't even care if Jason Leopold got it wrong by now."

There was a time when DU purported to care about whether or not reporters got things right. It now seems to me that such caring only applied when the reporters were saying BAD things. It looks to me as though when reporters say GOOD things, all of a sudden we "don't even care if Jason Leopold got it wrong by now."

I think that's unfortunate, that's all. We purported for a loooong time to CARE about reporters getting it right. Now it appears to have been simply marketing to the masses, a claim to be jettisoned whenever convenient.

Edited on Mon May-15-06 04:55 PM by Seabiscuit
My point is that my optimism about an upcoming indictment of Rove is *not dependent* on whether or not Leopold got it right or wrong.

How many different ways to I have to say that before you get it?

I've said it in a variety of ways in various posts in this thread. Maybe reading them will help you understand.

The journalistic significance of Leopold getting it right or wrong (your focus) is an entirely different matter (apples and oranges). On that issue, I happen to agree with you.

28. At this point it's not about hearing from people like Leopold. It's just
become more and more clear to me that all evidence points to a Rove indictment - Leopold's article, even if false (and yes, there were plenty of bloopers and inconsistencies - sloppily written and dubious at best), may simply be seen as a reminder that it's on its way.

I just filled the ice bucket on Saturday, awaiting more news.

The ice bucket's empty now, and I am keeping the bottles in the fridge. The ice bucket will be full of ice once Fitz announces just to keep the bottle (1 at a time) cool as I sip the bubbly out in the sun.

4. Business time, don't forget that!
24 hours could be interpreted in two ways. One day (Monday) being 24 hours, OR 3-8 hour business days (3x8=24 or Mon, Tue, and Wed.)

Relax and order some more ice!

6. That's completely ridiculous
No person would ever say "You have 24 business hours," meaning 3 business days.

They would say what everybody says: "You have 3 business days."

The sudden hedging on the business hours is really the icing on the cake for this whole Jason Leopold fiasco.

Messing up on a story this big--no matter why--is an unforgivable journalistic blunder. I think the folks at Truthout know that. At this point, I am just waiting for the "truth" to come "out"--whatever that truth may be.

matter for other threads - I'm not arguing either way here) - but the brouhaha just reminded me that there's plenty of other evidence out there that a Rove indictment is in the works and that's a good thing, and something to look forward to and celebrate about.
