Can anyone help me find the exact quote (preferably video/audio) of Bush defending his April 20, 2004 lie? My searches are coming up empty but I *know* I remember him giving a defense to the following:
After it was discovered that the NSA was indeed wiretapping without a warrant, President Bush defended
his apparent lie on April 20, 2004 in Ohio by saying something along the lines that it
wasn't a lie because
they were tracking calls where at least one of the parties was outside of the United States."
Well, now we know
THAT was a lie too, so why isn't anyone asking him, in light of the news that they're tracking
purely domestic calls as well, how does he now defend that 2004 statement?
PS: The only "quote" on the matter I've been able to find so far
reads:
"
Weeks after the al-Qaida attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, Bush authorized the NSA to eavesdrop without a warrant on calls between someone in the United States and a second party overseas, provided that the NSA has reason to believe at least one of the parties is linked to al-Qaida."
Anyone have a better source? Thanks.
