"Not Ready To Make Nice" by The Dixie Chicks ...Nice!!
Edited on Sun May-14-06 09:30 PM by Breeze54
Artist/Band: Dixie Chicks
Lyrics for Song: Not Ready To Make Nice
Lyrics for Album: Taking The Long Way

"Not Ready To Make Nice"

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

I'm through, with doubt,
There's nothing left for me to figure out,
I've paid a price, and I'll keep paying

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I know you said
Why can't you just get over it,
It turned my whole world around
and I kind of like it

I made my bed, and I sleep like a baby,
With no regrets and I don't mind saying,
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

Dixie Chicks' Maines received 'scary' death threat

Originally published May 13, 2006

Natalie Maines says one of the death threats she received after criticizing
President Bush three years ago was "definitely scary" because the sender "had a plan."

Maines, lead singer of the Dixie Chicks, told a London audience during a March 10, 2003,
concert:
"Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
The comment was made as war was looming with Iraq, and Maines later apologized for the
phrasingof her remark.

In an interview on CBS' 60 Minutes to air at 7 tomorrow night, Maines says one threat
she received in the summer of 2003 was different from the others.

"It was definitely scary because it seemed so -- it wasn't just somebody wanting to
write a hate letter," she says. "It was somebody who obviously thought they had a plan."

Emily Robison, who plays banjo and guitar in the Texas trio,
says the threat "had a time, had a place, had a weapon.
I mean, everything. ...'You will be shot dead at your show in Dallas.'"

I like these lyrics!
I watched their interview on 60 Minutes and I say; good for them!!
Stick to your guns!!!

1. I'm listening to it right now...
With all the Dixie Chicks threads, I thought it was a good time to bring it up on Rhapsody and listen to it again.

tea musically but very listenable...

Hope this wasn't just a sympathy ploy on 60 minutes...because it WASN"T mentioned that after Natalie's, "Bush statement" and subsequent red-neck boycott, the liberals and progressives bought their CD and sales went through the roof. Millions more than they would of sold than from just their...C & W fans, if they hadn't made the statement.

I bought it at Amazon.

4. This CD will have two from Tom Petty's band playing on it.
I think it'll be much more appealing to the non-country audience.

7. I like their music, but...
... I don't know what you mean by 'sympathy ploy'?
Do you think they were looking for sympathy? I didn't hear that...
I think these women are All American Fighters and I'm proud of them! :patriot:
I will buy the CD, just to stick it to the idiots who are/were threatening them!
But also because I like the songs I've heard in the past and this new one!
And the addition of Tom Petty band musicians doesn't hurt! ;)

Yes, it was truly sad and disgusting what the Chicks had to go through, sincerely, republicans are such sick fuckers...But liberals like myself and others bought the CD to show support, not so much for the music, (however, I did grow to like the songs very much) and I was simply stating, I hope it wasn't a ploy to get the same liberal support and people buy it for any other reason, except buying it on it's own merits and because they truly enjoy their music...

I'm sure that's the case, and I'm happily wrong about my suspicion.

6. I'm 100% done with making nice to those traitors too!
I'm with the chicks. Or they with me???
Anyway, making nice with these wife beater type Republicans is like trusting a practicing abuser. It just enables their sick acts.

10. Republicans have damaged the US like traitors
'Making nice' is like a battered woman trying to change herself in the false hope that the batterer will change.

sick behavior

Democrats calling for civility toward Republicans and trying to attract conservative voters with 'making nice' are gonna get beat up again. Actually, all of us in the family of man will continue to get the shit beat out of us and live in fear.

11. Downloaded...it's a good one
This one more of a R&R feel than some of their earlier tunes. I like the sharp edge this one has, politics be damned. It's well-written, angry, and loud. In short, everything I like in a song.
