I visit is ringing out with that silence. In autumns past, I have enjoyed posting to the sports board of my alma mater. Another message board on the same site is dedicated to politics, and everyone who posts there is a rabid right-winger. It's been entertaining in recent months to go there (although I never post to the politics board; what would be the point?) and watch the steady tide of banality, superficiality, and irrelevance sweep over the place. GASP -- John Kerry said something stupid!!! Cynthia McKinney hit a cop!!! Hillary Clinton is the devil incarnate!!! Rush Limbaugh got railroaded!!! Never anything substantive or topical to the current political climate, just pathetic grasping at straws by the blind who, led by the blind, are beginning to come to the realization that the ride is almost over.

Well, it seems that the regular posters there have been posting ever more seldom until, at long last, they've run out of things to say. The latest post is from this afternoon, a tirade against Michael Savage by a poster who identifies him/herself as African American, following an interlude of two days completely absent of posts to the board. The wingers aren't even rising to take the bait. Nothing but dead air on that end.

It's about time they saw the light, or at least realized they're gonna lose this time. Warms the very cockles of my heart, I tell ya.
