Has your cellular company handed over its records to the NSA?
I e-mailed Sprint, my carrier, and here is what they said:

Dear XOXO,

Thank you for writing.

We are not giving any of the information of our customers to National
Security Agency. The data of our customers is very confidential and
private.

Semantics mean a lot to people skirting oversight.

Did the land line phone companies get paid for the data they provided? Help an old woman out here. I am confused. Did they compile the data and just hand it over out of love of country or did they get fees?

2. From what I am reading, it was a voluntary handover of information.
Scary shit. I am in favor of a boycott of any company that is in the business of handing over its customers information.

3. Sacramento Bee says NSA paying the phone companies for data
Just found this on another post

The government's payments to AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth for the domestic phone records came to light almost five months after the New York Times reported that the NSA was monitoring calls between people in the United States and overseas.
