A Dubai company has completed a deal to take over a British engineering firm that supplies the US military, with the approval of the US president.

2. Stratigery
These are all US national security interest that are already (stupidly) owned by a forgein company, an ally at that. Dubai may feel as though it will be easier to gain stratigic national interest if they are already owned by a foreign company so as to say "it can't be a national security issue if you allow another foreign interest to own it". It is, in essence, a bargaining chip to use with their bush* buddies.

8. Why are WE so eager to sell our "stuff" to someone who can then
Edited on Mon May-08-06 03:16 AM by SoCalDem
RE-SELL it to the highest bidders?

There ARE some things that a country NEEDs to keep safe from foreign ownership..

THIS is what's wrong with Privatization (pirate-ization)

We need to keep our energy generation/transporation companies HERE.

same for any security needs.

and we need to revisit the whole "food" issue. I know it's "nice" to have grapes in January and tomatoes year round, but is it really a good idea to be the country that;s most reviled, and yet be buying food from our potential "enemies".. Should we have closed all those factories here that once kept us self-sufficient?

Is $1.00 a day labor for some rich guys worth the risk we all run , because of their greed?
