I'm glad I could get them out of their trance.
my response to the first letter
"Regarding the recent discussions regarding a letter I wrote chastizing the current administration for their poor support of our troops and our veterans,I respectfully have to suggest that when people quote "data",they quote current data. The information from Factcheck.org regarding a 27%increase in spending was from 2004.

Since that time,1740 more soldiers have been killed,13,546 soldiers have been wounded, according to icasualties.org

As accounted in the Washington Post on 6/29/2005,the Va System was looking at a 2.6 billion dollar shortfall for 2006.I'll quote the author-"The Bush administration disclosed yesterday that it had vastly underestimated the number of service personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan seeking medical treatment from the Department of Veterans Affairs, and warned that the health care programs will be short at least $2.6 billion next year unless Congress approves additional funds."

My own experience with this involves my son,who was injured on his third deployment to Iraq.He has had to wait 6 months to have reconstructive surgery on his knee, due to the huge influx of orthopedic injuries.6 months in a foreign country, with his leg in a brace and using crutches.I'm grateful that's all that happened to him.
Regarding the body armor issue, the Pentagon itself admits that 80% of fatalities could have been prevented with the proper body armor-armor they had access to,but failed to provide. They have known this information since 2003.

I dare say that these good people have no family serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. If they did, maybe they wouldn't be so quick to say people like me are making a big deal out of this. The problem with this war is that everyone doesn't have a stake in it.I favor a draft.Maybe then, you will pay attention...when your kid is the one getting shot at,with the inadequate supplies.
