Jason Leopold Thanks H20Man
Edited on Sun May-07-06 03:55 PM by Me.
This was posted on H20Man's blog.

Hi there:
I am eternally grateful for your continued support on my reporting on the Plame leak. I hope to be able to return the favor one day.

Would you be so kind as to remind the individuals who have said that I reported that an announcement would be made this week that I said no such thing. I reported that the grand jury IS EXPECTED to vote this week. That's much different than saying that they would make an annoucment this week. My sources indicated that the GJ would vote and it's up to Fitzgerald and his office to determine when to hold a press conference. It seems as though people have mischaracterized my report, as usual.
Kind regards,
Jason

73. Mis-characterization is something Leopold knows a thing or two about
Edited on Mon May-08-06 10:25 AM by SodoffBush
Karl Rove will get his well deserved comeupance as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, but it won't depend on anything related to Leopold, as some would have you believe.

Meanwhile, can we dispense with the court-holding, p l e a s e?

BTW, I had a reread of your 5 Nov 2004 piece "Still standing, Still fighting, Still here" and found it as pertinent today as when I'd first read it. Keep in mind, the number of people still performing those three actions is beyond most people's wildest imagination. That's what makes it beautiful--it's a mass movement, as opposed to a one-man band.

Last Question Is Obstruction for Fitzgerald, Rove
By Jason Leopold
t r u t h o u t | Report

Sunday 07 April 2006

Hundreds of pages of emails and memos "discovered" by the White House in February and turned over to Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald show that Karl Rove played a much larger role in the Valerie Plame Wilson leak case than he had previously disclosed to a grand jury and FBI investigators.

In February, TruthOut was the first to report the existence of the 250 pages of emails from Vice President Dick Cheney's office and the Office of the President that were written in mid-2003.

<http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/050706Z.shtml >

=======================

I like RawStory. I donate to RawStory.

I like truthout -- I donate to truthout.

Of the 2 sources, truthout is more cautious.

... have co-authored reports, as well, for instance:

Cheney aide cooperating with CIA outing probe, sources say
Larisa Alexandrovna and Jason Leopold

As noted, he also writes for Truthout.

so I associate him with Truthout. Nice to see that he and Larisa work together, too.

I still get shivers down my spine when I hear Congressman Conyer's refer to RawStory -- it is simply excellent to hear someone in 'authority' who is aware of (and respectful of) the people's press.

Jason Leopold: Clears Up Some ?s In Radio Interview "Things Are Good!"

Leopold on the radio:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

I just heard a full 30 minutes of Jason Leopold being casually interviewed and taking questions on a liberal talk show.

The bottom line is that he sounded VERY confident of the following:

1) GJ meets tomorrow at 9:30 EST
2) Rove received a target letter a month ago
3) Fitz had charges drawn up a month ago for false statements and perjury, but not obstruction
4) The no target letter spin was carefully phrased by Luskin to mean only in relation to Roves most recent appearance
5) The nothing for at least 10 days story was spin control to keep the story out of the news cycle.
6) A Friday press conference is predicted to be announced Thursday
7) The investigation will continue to remain open.
8) Rove will be indicted for false statements and perjury, and conceivably, but not probably, obstruction of justice.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

Was this information wrong?

63. #6: "is predicted to be announced"
Big difference between that and "definitely gonna happen."

Some people chose to think Leopold said the latter; he didn't.

Some people got mad when their own interpretation didn't happen, and blamed Leopold.

Some people need to sharpen their reading and/or analytical skills.

Others just need to chill the fuck out.

Just sayin'.

53. I always "click" when I see Raw Story or truthout
Someone has to take the risks- and they both do it. If they have been premature once or twice, (I remember something during Plame), they haven't lost any credibility with me. We need to fight the corporate media and it's not easy, since they get all the access. What Raw Story and truthout do is valuable beyond just cutting edge or "liberal" oriented news. They are creating an alternative media which is respected and credible. That is so important and I hope to see them on more equal footing soon..

12. In December of 2003,
one of the reasons an associate suggested that I would enjoy participating on DU was because of your contributions here. In the 30 months since, I have always enjoyed reading your work on here. And I've enjoyed those times that we have had the opportunity to talk shop.

The "attacks" that have taken place are, in my opinion, not part of a healthy debate. There have been some posts that I view as pathological. I am reminded of friend Rubin saying that bitterness contaminates the vessel which contains it.

I agree with your earlier statement that a number of people will owe Mr. Leopold an apology. The measure of if I am correct about pathology will be if those apologies are forthcoming.

Glad to see you back.

Edited on Sun May-07-06 04:40 PM by Hissyspit
First I found Will Pitt, at a time I was feeling particularly alone in the world, when my brother and I were the only ones I knew personally who were saying there were clearly no WMD of note in Iraq:

Then I found Truthout, which helped keep me sane for two years.

Then I found Democratic Underground after a Google search brought up the Top 10 Conservative Idiots (I didn't know Will posted here. That was just coincidence).

The Daily Mislead emails helped (I miss them) and finally The Daily Show.

It's been an interesting six years, to say the least.

23. It stood out.
I remember in the summer of 2003, just shaking my head, wondering what the heck these people were doing? As Sandy Berger noted (on page 4 of Mr. Wilson's book), since the Bush folks never backed down, the fact they did so quickly showed there was something larger to hide. Exposing Plame was bizarre.

People in my life who were weirded out with my "obsession" with the Plame threads two years ago have done a complete about-face as the truth we investigated has unfolded. Was it Shakespeare who said, "The truth will out"? That would make the name of the website Jason Leopold currently writes for very appropriate.

55. Thanks To Jason Leopold As Well. He's One Of The Only People I Can Trust
on the inside of things. It's a shame such a professional and such an amazingly valuable asset to our cause has to put up with such baby shit. But God bless him. He for one has my eternal gratitude for what he does.

And as far as H2OMAN goes, he has my thanks as well. In fact, anyone who puts that much honest and valuable effort into our cause has my deepest thanks.

here in this thoughtful, positive thread

Thanks to you all - I read your work and pass it on.
changes gonna come, in part because of your efforts.

62. A "thoughtful, positive thread"!!!!
What a nice surprise. Thanks to ALL of you, for continuing on when people seem to be going out of their way to discredit you - or some of you, anyway.

Things are good!

67. What's w/all the Jason Leopold threads over the last month?
especially in the "greatest" posts?

Are we having another session of false idol worship?

I'm still waiting for that target letter to materialize. At least the rumor was succesful in getting one's name up in flashing neon lights.

68. A bit off note, but I wonder how many others have been Plamed.
Not just the swift-boating for public figures, I wonder what the numbers are for people who were destroyed in their occupation because they held to the truth.

A grateful thank you to Mr. H2O Man for making this whole Plame mess into something comprehensible for a lay person like me to understand. I huge thank you to Mr. Pitt for his passionate commitment to the truth.

I love this thread. :toast: And a huge thank you to the Duers who have asked wonderful questions, dug around in pdf files and have made this Plame experience a truly fascinating experience for me personally. I have goosebumps thinking about how on the edge of history we are.
