Real reason revealed for why Stephen Colbert was invited...
...it was all mix-up. From his photo, they mistook him for the always edgy Mark Russell!!!

Aspiring Beltway-Insider Comic Stephen Colbert

Edgy, "truth-to-Power" comic Mark Russell

"Oh, La la la...how much D.C. ass do I have to kiss to get invited for martinis in the morning? LA, la, la, la, la..."

2. Anyone remember "Mark Russel"'s appearance on the Simpsons?
That was, frankly, the last time I thought about him--when he was being mercilessly lampooned.

4. I believe it's a movie still of Dennis Hopper
in the amazing movie, "Blue Velvet."

:scared:

11. Pabst Blue Ribbon.
It's part of the movie. If you haven't seen Blue Velvet, I do recommend it. It's creepy and slow, yet not as slow as Eraserhead or Lost Highway. I think it was released in the mid-late '80s.

13. It's not Hopper,
but it is from Blue Velvet. It's the guy that lip synced the song in the film, i can't think of his name but it is from Blue Velvet.

14. Thanks. It's been so many years since I've seen it.
Hopper, Dern, and McLachlan are all I can remember about the movie. Them, and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Oh, and "mommy."

8. Dean Stockwell as Ben in "Blue Velvet" lip synching "In Dreams"...
..."In dreams...I walk...with you..."

Very memorable scene if you saw the film.

7. Was Mark Russell ever funny?
I've watched him occasionally, and he's awful.

10. Apparently.
He just updated his web site with these zingers:

The new White House press secretary, Tony Snow, has said some unkind stuff about President Bush in the past, but obviously, no more. Snow is operating under the influence of John McCain.

Karl Rove's workload at the White House has been lightened to allow him more time with the grand jury - known in the Bush administration as Spring Break.

Bush says he has no magic wand to lower gas prices. How about a big stick? Teddy Roosevelt did not say, "Speak softly and carry a magic wand."

Bush lays guilt on the American people by saying we are addicted to oil. What we are addicted to is driving to work, the grocery store, church, soccer practice, etc. But mostly, to the gas station.

(The Rove one is not bad.)

15. My high school government teacher thought he was very funny
Great teacher, but she was older in the 70s and 80s. People in that generation don't find the same things funny that we do.
