These are independent retailers who, for the most part, do not employ ANY undocumented people. And those that do, treat their people very well.

I shop at our grocery store every day.

Today was Opening Bay on the Bay (San Francisco Bay).

I walked down to New Morning Cafe for breakfast. New Morning is the best. And they were packed.

Marcos skipped over a list of four tables to seat me.

Our grocery store stocks things just because we ask.

The bookstore gives our dog treats.

Every merchant in our town is my friend.

But, then, I live in a place like no other.

I think that boycotting individual businesses for a non-specific (as far as the individual retailer is related or concerned)cause is just plain misguided.

I've been reading other forums where illegal workers and their advocates keep repeating the lie that "Americans are lazy." What they really mean is that Black, American Indian and poor white Americans are too lazy. They never mention the rest of the sentence, "to work for slave wages that won't support a family or give them any opportunities for the future."

Their arguments are disingenous. They never acknowledge that their willingness to work for lower wages hurts African-Americans and LEGAL immigrants.

Business is mainly to blame for this problem, but there is no reason that the illegal workers themselves can't be expected to understand or acknowledge the difficulties they are causing for working class American citizens.
