GENNIFER Flowers is steamed: A federal appeals court has dismissed a defamation lawsuit she filed against Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Bill Clinton advisers James Carville and George Stephanopoulos. "I'm extremely disappointed," Flowers fumed to PAGE SIX. "It's been a David and Goliath story, and unfortunately Goliath has gotten the upper hand." Flowers sued the trio in 1999 after they suggested on a talk show that the audiotapes she used to try to prove her affair with the former horndog-in-chief were doctored. The former lounge singer, who held a press conference during the 1992 presidential campaign to announce that she had a 12-year affair with the then-Arkansas governor, was represented for free by conservative group Judicial Watch before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which unanimously dismissed the case on Monday. Flowers says she's now turning her attention to her job as spokeswoman for Hurricane Katrina relief organization Nola's Ark, which focuses on restoring flood-ravaged homes. "New Orleans is my home, and I need to give back to a community that has welcomed me with open arms," Flowers said.

Flowers also was unable to prove that Carville and Stephanopoulos intentionally or recklessly made false statements, the three-judge panel ruled in affirming U.S. District Judge Philip Pro's ruling.
The lawsuit had sought unspecified punitive and compensatory damages. Judicial Watch, a conservative Washington public-interest group that represented Flowers, said it was considering an appeal. ....
``We're very pleased that after more than six years of litigation about events in a presidential campaign 14 years ago, all of Gennifer Flowers' claims have been dismissed as insufficient,'' said Stephanopoulos' attorney, Laura Handman.
