6. I think the point of the whole 'Rush' fiasco is that the WoD is stupid
and should be ended.

If people what to take drugs, that's their business. Not yours, or mine, or the governments.

41. Good point but let's wait until Rush is penalized. This is too much
fun.

It really pisses me off when I see 15 ATF people standing about a big pile of pot. I think how that money could be spent helping someone who is addicted to crack. I bet there is for more money spent on fighting Marijuana than offering people help to get off crack some other drug that is harmful.

non-violent pot smokers, people who are otherwise good 'citizens' who have had their lives ruined by Zero Tolerance and the WoD.

8. HA! It didn't need our help
although it looks like the Freepers may have discovered it already.

People are going to be pissed off when they hear about the sweetheart deal this fat fuck got.

Most people are only a few degrees of separation away from inmates doing decades of hard time for smoking a joint.

If anything discredits the drug war, the justice system, and how this country works for the wealthy, this should be it.

9. I was
also under the impression that rush was laundering money. Withdrawing monies from his account to hid the fact he was committing a felony. I think that this is a federal offense and carries and 25 year term per charge. He beinga rich fat white guy got the best defense money can buy. I don't think, though, he can keep his nose clean. You can all ready see how fat he's getting because he's (I assumming) off of the hillbilly heroin. But time will tell.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=36348

Radio commentator Rush Limbaugh, for instance, reportedly is being investigated by Palm Beach, Fla., authorities for "structuring" – that is, withdrawing money from his bank accounts just below the $10,000 threshold under which banks are required to report cash transactions to the government. There are provisions against "structuring" in both federal and Florida money-laundering laws.

"I was not laundering money," Limbaugh said on his radio show in November, just after coming back from treatment for addiction to prescription pain pills. "I was withdrawing money, for crying out loud!"

That doesn't matter, says Charles Intriago, publisher of the Money Laundering Alert newsletter, and it also doesn't matter for what Limbaugh was withdrawing his money.

"He could have gone out and bought rosaries for Mother Teresa's convent," Intriago tells Insight. "It doesn't matter what he was doing with the money; the crime is in the structuring." Intriago, a former federal prosecutor, says if the allegations are true Limbaugh could and should be prosecuted for structuring.

"The United States government decided that it's of extremely high value for the enforcement agencies of the United States to have reports that are filed reflecting the withdrawal or deposit of more than $10,000. ... Therefore, the public policy of the United States as reflected in the law that President Reagan signed is that it should be made a crime for people to structure their transactions to avoid or evade the filing of that form."

Not lesser sentences, not letting them go.

He refuses to "take the medicine" which he loudly prescribed for others in his condition, while taking all the medications he could get his hands on. If he is not the ultimate hypocrite, he's tied for first place.

24. I voted for rehab
I don't think drug addicts should go to our already overcrowded prisons. They need help. Rush of course needs more help than a rehab program, but that's another story entirely. Just because I think someone is an ignorant, foul, self important son of a bush, does not mean they should be imprisoned.

I also think the drug addicts that are in prison for their addictions should be out. (and in rehab) Even if Rush has double standards, I don't.

39. Agree 100%
Drug addicts should NEVER be put in jail for simple possesion.
I also agree that all non-violent drug offenders should be released now.
The US "war on drugs" is a complete and total failure.
Decriminalize cannabis. Medicalize serious addiction.
Let's adopt the Dutch/Swiss model and end this drug war insanity once and for all!

49. Rush told us the best place for addicts. I disagreed with him but
I'm all for giving people what they want so I voted in this case, for him to get what he advocated. He told us drugs and drug users, dealers etc. were 'ruining' this country.

If he changes his mind and uses his voice to get the same deal he got for everyone, I'll change my mind. But he has done no such thing. He has blamed everyone for his drug use.

He needs longterm (maybe two years) in-patient treatment in a drug rehab program ~ his whole attitude shows that he doesn't see anything wrong with his drug use, while not retracting his statements about others.

Maybe jail would be beneficial for someone like him, whose worse crime is the damage he has helped to do to this country.

He's a manipulator, even in the way this story was reported, he manipulated the news about it.

He was sentenced to 18 months probation with a fine of $30,000. He called the fine 'helping to pay for the investigation' so that he can insist that all 'criminals' pay when there is an investigation. He's a pathetic, psychotic individual ~ telling lies every day for money can do that. He lied about his hearing also. He is in no way 'in recovery'. He hasn't even taken step #1 of the 12 step program.
