Marc Maron Email says Danny Goldberg is OUT at Air America.
The Marc Maron Show has been really starting to groove out here in LA. I'm sorry if you haven't been able to get it. Someday, it will be made available to the world. There was a big shake up at AAR Headquarters. The guy who fired me, Goldberg, is out. It's not clear what will happen to The Marc Maron Show at this point in time in terms of getting it out there. We are suppose to syndicate May 1st but the brass have some ideas about my future that I'm suppose to hear this week. That aside, I am well, the cats are well, my wife, Mishna, is well. . .

if true horay!

1. I like Maron's show but ...
It's pushed Mike Malloy back to midnight here in LaLaLand (BOO!). I just finally saw "Left of the Dial" recently, and Marc ended up being one of its stars (along with Randi, of course). His refusal to just "go along" or to sacrifice his credibility was great (even though his frustration was palpable). If Goldberg's out, I'll be glad too. (Randi also has said she can't stand him.)

6. It's been such a loss to so many of us NYers too! I can't sit and
stream at my computer (so much else to do) and I so miss listening to Mike at night! What a dumb programming move!

I also miss Maron in the morning. Hope he's back on soon.

7. It was horrible news that he was being taken off, but I could not believe
what they replaced him with!!! Did they really thing that Malloy listeners were going to sit by and switch to the Bimbo Sisters?

8. AAR can actually make more money on WLIB by selling the commercial
time for the Satellite Sisters than they can with Malloy. That's why they did it.

9. Malloy said as much one night and whenever something
doesn't make sense to me, I know to follow the money trail, so I had guessed that this was so. But I have been SO SORRY to have lost Malloy and so angered by the sound of the SS that it's really been awful to me. Can't wait 'til someone wises up and gets Mike back on the air here. He's the BOMB!

11. Interesting that WFMU's blog says that the money was the "official reason"
but that the "unstated reason" was that Malloy's Arbitron numbers were not good:

10. Hook up speakers to your computer and run them with simple
speaker wire to any or as many room(s) you choose...That's what I was forced to do...because there is no AAR on the Northern CA coast!

3. I much prefer Maron's show now to the one he did in the AM
The other one was too full of schtick whereas this one has better conversations. It's completely fucked up, though, because his show seems to be constantly preempted by Clippers or hockey games.

I think we heard about the Goldberg news last week, though. Maybe I imagined it.

4. Goldberg is no longer CEO, but is still at AAR as vice-chairman.
