It's 66 here in winter!
I can't believe that it's 66º here in Tennessee in January! It's been pretty warm lately. I guess global warming isn't real still eh? :sarcasm:

2. It was 83F in Texas this week........
In McKinney. The drought is severe; you can walk across the lake behind my friend, no need for a bridge.........and the ground is cracked to the water table.

Right. Global warming is a myth by those folks who hate freedom. Or something.

30. I noticed when I came up there for Christmas
There is ALWAYS snow on the mountains around Benson and Winslow in the mountains. Two years ago it actually snowed in Tucson.
Nothing this year.
In fact, didn't see one ounce of snow anywhere all the way out here.

Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 04:31 PM by in_cog_ni_to
a very mild winter last year. We had very little snow and very mild temperatures. This year we started with a lot of snow and cold in late November, but all last week it was 50 degrees every day. This week, high 40s! IT'S JANUARY IN ILLINOIS and I have my windows open! No, Global warming doesn't exist.:eyes:

15. the only reason chicago doesn't have a population of 20 million people....
...is the horrible winters. with global warming on the horizon, chicago will be pleasant year round...watch the people flock there when they don't have to worry about -40 degree wind chill factors.

26. interesting...people say Minn. would have 8 or 10 million..
...if not for the bitter, long winters.
people used to say that the winters kept the riffraff out.
in truth it only means that we get hardy riffraff.

I'm moving back to Iowa! I'm allergic to sprawl, and Illinoisans love it (they call it "development"). More people, more sprawl. Ick!!

31. actually, there's a difference between illinoisians and chicagoans....
even though chicago is in illinois, i've never met a person from chicago that will tell you they're from illinois if you ask them where they're from. we don't really relate to the rest of the state. and real chicagoans flinch when a suburbanite claims to be from chicago.

ask anyone from dallas, houston, austin, san antonio, el paso, etc where they are from and 99 times out of 100 they'll say texas. that's what's different about chicagoans. we ignore the fact that our city is actually located in the state of illinois. in fact, most of us have no reason to ever leave the city limits (unless we're leaving the whole state).

interesting note: i have friends from gary, indiana and if you ask them where they're from, they'll say "chicago". i guess nobody wants to claim gary.

23. Been pretty cold here in Idaho this winter
It's been colder than the last few years, with more snow than I remember having since the 80's.

Unfortunately, even with the cold temps, we're still warmer than the 100 year average.

25. OK, I'm jealous, but 35F the second week of Jan. is pretty unusual..
...for Minn.
Coldest weather of the year coming up -- last 10 days/January, first week of February.
it is weird here and probably global warming is a factor....we haven't had a real nasty-ass blizzard, followed by a week of -20 for several years.
we will probably get our asses kicked real good before it's over, though...

And given the natural gas bill I just got here in Raleigh NC, I can't really complain about a day being too warm in January. But still...

33. Mid-50's to low-60's in Colorado.
Open fires have been banned due to extremely dry conditions. We usually don't have these types of warnings until the heat of summer.

Also, there are many people who believe in global warming -- oops, climate change! -- but they don't believe human activity is the cause of it or that it will wreak havoc with our lifestyles. My mother likes to remind me that Earth goes through cycles & "we're just in a cycle. It has nothing to do with people driving SUVs or anything like that." :eyes:

34. Enjoy it while you can
this is only a rest bit from what is getting ready to come. We've had these strange warm ups before and then got clobbered with bone chilling cold and heavy snows all the way to April.
