if we're able to elect a Democratic Congress and president . . .
the challenges they face will be enormous . . . far greater than anything faced by any other administration, by several levels of magnitude . . .

they're going to have to able to bring the country together around our common interests, and to successfully relegate the reflex-inducing social issues to a back burner . . . a WAY back burner . . .

we're going to need elected representatives who are intelligent, creative, realistic, honest and compassionate -- and not in the thrall of corporate interests -- if this nation is to survive . . . incremental solutions will be all but useless . . .

we will need a bold progressive agenda that can at least give us a fighting chance as we address issues of survival involving the environment, war and peace, the economy, poverty, and a host of others . . . all of which BushCo has FUBARed . . .

let's choose our candidates carefully . . .

1. Sorry, but it is very likely that you will not get the guy you need.
You might, but he or she would need a lot of very rare qualities, and that is hard to find.

I wish you luck, but I do not believe that the future is bright for either of our countries.

3. That's the spirit.

I guess there is no point then?

No offense, but hope and determination doesn't hurt one's cause.

2. Agreed.
And we need to be ever vigilant against the lashing out and machinations of the kool-aid drinkers.

4. We need to fix our voting system.
If we don't win big the midterms, then it is endgame. Not because we "lost" but because it is rigged. The majority of Americans do not want these people in office. This is proven, time and again, in polls. We are on a hijacked plane, one the size of an entire nation, and it looks like we are on a kamikaze mission to crash in Iran, destroying both countries and probably everyone else who happens to be in the way.

Not to be gloomy, but what we need is a fucking revolution.

6. We need Impeachment Candidates who inspire Bottom-Up decision making
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 03:35 AM by pat_k
It's About Us -- Not the Party. Not our Leaders.

Attributes that inspire citizens to connect and participate are more important than positions on issues.

Our immediate goals are clear: Impeach Bush and Cheney and reject the results of suspect elections. Actions large and small will make these goals a reality. As we move forward, we need to remember that, however they fail or anger us, we can't let it just be about them. Ultimately, it is about figuring out how to use our power to see that our will is done.

7. Personally I would rather see a Democratic Congress
and a Repuke President. The evil in me would like to see the Repukes whining about "politics." Shame on me.
