Batten Down the Hatches third and last
And like a bird she soared
From the mountain's top high up into the sky
Alas! Alas! She could fly no more
Because of her love for me.

From on high I heard her song of love
She sang her song, her Siren song for me
And onto the rocks below she fell
And she bounced dead, dead into the sea.

So the years passed by and so did I
Sailing the lonesome seas
And singing forever my Siren's song
To call her back to me.

Batten down the hatches lads the Captain is singing his song.

EPILOGUE

So the Captain he sang his Siren's song loud across the sea
And the stars turned bright and the sea turned white
And from out of the ocean's deep
Rose the song the Siren's song and it sang across the sea.

The Captain whispers "She calls for me."
And hot tears crying he leapt into the sea.
Now hand in hand hearts beating together
They walk the Nipponese Land.

Forever. Perhaps. Maybe.

So batten down the hatches lads the Captain has finished his song.

18 March 2005. For Kazuko she who haunts my dreams.

1. Wonderful, oneighty
Another poem that gave me chills. I told someone else here that if something gives you the chills then it is undeniably good. There are three poems in here right now that do that to me. I never thought that I'd get the chills from reading a poem but I must be becoming a more sophisticated lad. Thanks for sharing your poem.

2. Well thank you Droopy
I have a self published book of true life happenings.

This poem/story tells of a young man going off to Korea at age seventeen (1952) arriving in Japan in August 52 from Korea falling in love with a Japanese girl. A love that cannot be my lover a love that cannot be. She tells him so one day while laying on the side of a short mountain.

But they remain together until he is 21 and he must then return to America and despite efforts to do so he never returns except in his dreams.

So she has become the Siren and he becomes the Captain. There are many such stories of lost loves. This one is mine.

I have this written out for singing. My grand daughter and her boy friend, both singers are maybe going to try it. I can see it as a comedy or a tragic comedy.

Thank you for your kind comments.

I have some 'stuff' in writers also.
