There is something wrong with all this Obama Power.
This is not a phenomenon but a "coup d'état...

Overthrow of a country, usually by small group of persons..

The American Heritage Dictionary defines it , more specifically as " A sudden stroke of state policy involving deliberate violation of constitutional forms by a group of persons in authority." An good example is Army General Francisco Franco's takeover of Spain in the mid 1930's.

It may or may be violent in nature. And usually only the ruling clique or a portion of it are changed. It sometimes may only describe the change of the head of state.

1. I find myself asking myself this one question over and over -
What is it about me (us) that is able to look at the Obama phenomenon with an open mind?
What do they see that we don't?

Do we have a stronger sense of who we are, what we believe in?

(ok - that is more than 1 question :P)

I just don't understand what people see in him.

2. Me, too. Although I have a history of not going with the tide, with the bestsellers...
...and generally being suspicious of all bandwagon phenomena.

I've always scoffed at the fakery in televangelism, and that's what O's campaign is all about to me - a product sold to vulnerable consumers.

3. It's like being at a church revival...
That's all I see. When I watch the debates I see someone fumbling for answers, not giving concise answers, no real clear plan, and when he finishes speaking, I'm more confused than I was before. When he gives these soaring speeches, crikey, I feel like I'm 10 again, sitting in church. Like now. I hear him, in the other room, soaring out of my TV. This is NOT what I want in a president. If I was voting for local preacher, sure he'd have the job. Are people looking for a preacher in case end times come? I half expect him to say 'I have seen the mountain top". I find it all terribly disturbing. I found Bush's religious over-the-top BS terribly disturbing, and now here it all is again.

Again I ask, is this guy really a Dem?

When I read this, I about jumped off my deck-->

"... a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama" - - Barack Obama
Lebanon, New Hampshire. January 7, 2008

HUH!?!
:wtf:

4. I thought my husand and I were the only ones who felt like this...
I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me because I don't see what everyone else sees in him.

I was really struggling early on, trying to understand why I had such a negative reaction to him. What first validated my feelings of mistrust and doubt was a response he gave in a very early debate concerning his "present" votes in Illinois. He said something to the effect of "that's the way it's done in Illinois." My immediate thought was... but, I thought you are professing to be different than the status quo. So, in fact, you just played the game like everyone else. So how are you different? Where's the change?

I know it is a really small, seemingly petty, thing, but it just represents everything about him that's not real for me. He doesn't even have his own "real" answers to questions in the debates. He always says something like, "I agree with Hillary." or "I agree with John" or anyone else he is debating, then goes on to just re-state what his opponent has already stated, but in a convoluted, beat-around-the-bush way. I don't see anything genuine about this guy and I don't trust him at all.

6. Talking about his copying during debates -
Did you want to scream when they hit Hillary with the 'what is the name of the next President of Russia' question? And then Obama's answer was that he agreed with everything she just said.
What a cop-out!

5. There is something wrong with it.
I agree. I cannot explain it any better than
this: I was in the international drug trade for
years, the feebs have a fat file on me but the
staties took me down on a minor trafficking charge.
Long story short, Janet Reno gave me my right to
vote back early. Being in this business requires
an innate sense about people. I can read people pretty
damn good (I knew I was busted before they left my
driveway - the ratbastards). Obama just raises the
hackles on my neck. He is not to be trusted. He talks
like a televangelist reaping dollars for his own personal
gain. The quote about the 'light will shine down', is
oft repeated in his rally and stump speeches. He is
a shark feeding on the desperation of Americans who
sorely need something to believe in now that their own
country seemingly has abandoned them.

And I have always enjoyed yours! :)

Just wanted to add, I dealt in marijuana,
hate the hard shit, have seen too much of
the damage it can do.

9. I don't get it either......
I'm the adult child of an alcoholic and one thing you learn to do in an alcoholic homes is read people and read situations.

Things with the whole Obama candidacy don't add up. Something isn't as it appears on the surface.
