He was in our local newspaper but didn't live here. More can probably be found in the Monroe county, Wisconsin records. I'm also sending it to the person who has the Monroe county site on usgenweb.org

"Jeffers W. Jackson, 106-year-old negro, died in the Monroe county asylum at Tomah.
During his earlier years Jackson was a slave."

1. Cool. I will snoop around over on Ancestry.com and see if anybody is looking for him.

2. I've posted stuff like that on Rootsweb.
The categorized forums of Rootsweb are on Ancestry's site now but they are still free to access.

I'd post it under his last name and under any kind of slavery category, etc.

You might think it a waste of time, but I had a relative in Germany contact me about a post on my Zimmerman, Gardner and Knodel ancestors that had been out there for a couple of years.

It's worth a shot.

3. I'd post it on afrigeneas.net

Before posting I would do a search there for his family name in that area.

It is without a doubt the best site on the web for African American research.

We help each other by every means necessary to make our ancestors happy. : )
