I need suggestions please.

Georgia records are unavaiable for the tme period I need. I live in MA.

I am trying to find out anything about my gggrandmother who seems to have died giving birth to her second child John. Her name is Amanda Redmond Lance daughter of Susanna Forester and Stephen H Redmond. I can't find Amanda's marriage to Thomas JD Lance, the actual birth of her two children with him nor anything about her death. It seems she possibly died around the time of her second child John Thomas Lance. Her Husband remarried with-in months of Johns birth. I have both Mary and John's death certificates and both say they were born in Fannin Co., GA.

I also am at the brick wall on Amanda's mother Susanna Forester. She had a brother named George who married the sister (Isabella Redmon) of Amanda's husband Stephen H. Redmon.

So how and where can I possibly fing my answers on my gggrandmother and my ggggrandmother? Anyone have any ideas? Below I'll add a short genealogy report for more clarification.

2. Thanks for replying. I have tons of info on descendent's

but can't get anything on the marriage of Amanda Redman & Thomas Lance. Can't get anything on her death date or place of burial.
Can't get anything on Amanda's mother Susanna Forester and who Susanna's parents are. I've been at this for many years on the internet and have even requested microfilm from LDS which I went and searched through in Worcester, MA.

I think I need to either find some one who lives in Fannin Co.,GA or I need to go there myself for a few days.
Problem is, I've never done any physical research and don't know where to begin, even if I can manage to get to GA.

Any suggestions about where I should start? I've called & written to every place the internet has led me to. All to no avail.

I am so upset over not finding more on these two woman I could literally cry. I hate myself for not knowing how to go about this.

I've met many cousins on the net who are at a loss just like me.

I was going to suggest Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness, but they have no one working in Fannin County, unfortunately.

You didn't say which films you ordered from the Mormons, but that is always an option. You just have to keep looking until you find something. I hate to be discouraging, but that's how genealogy is sometimes. You'll have months, sometimes years of dry holes, then suddenly hit a gusher.

you might find something there. There were scads and scads of Redman/Redmond/Redmon that lived there and migrated out across the country. It is worth a shot. Some of the Redman/Redmonds married into my connections in VA and MD>

8. Doing research on my NC/TN/GA/KY ancestors of Cherokee lineage

I discovered that all or parts of the above mentioned states were known as North Carolina back around 1800. Try checking the records for NC. Good luck!

9. Don't forget probate records

Sometimes older probate records are destroyed for space but most of the time you can find probate records when you can find nothing else. A call to the county courthouse could verify that this information is available and how much a search might cost.

Probate records like wills - if they exist - can provide very good evidence of someones existence, their residence and their family ties. Susannah could appear on her father's will, her grandfather's will, even in documents related to her mother's estate if she survived her father. Plus, she may be mentioned in her husband's will simply because she was the mother of his oldest children.
