Here's the thing about family alienation....
I am so the master of internet research and yet it slipped by
me until today when I found out online that my brother died three years ago.

I know why he turned into the right-winger he was...
it was the flip-side of why I am the bleeding heart Liberal I am.

It's about who gets to you first when the family dynamic is all shot
to hell and your self-esteem is zero.

I'm sorry he died so young and I'm a little sad.
He married later in life was only 60 when he passed and still had a preteen at home.

RIP Doug

1. Tikki ...
I am so sorry that you found out about your brother this way. I'm sorry for your loss and the sadness that goes along with that loss, and the lost time with family. I don't know the dynamics, but I do hope that somehow through this, maybe, you'll have a reconnect. If not, either way, know that you are in my thoughts. Here's a  for you.

take care of yourself and may your brother rest in peace.

3. (((Tikki)))
I am so sorry that you found out like this too. My heart goes out to you and to all of your family, especially to his young child.

These situations are really hard. My mom had to make a break from her father (actually, we all ended up making the same break) and she found out that he had died by reading the obits in the paper. It's really shocking and still leaves a hole regardless of the family dynamics involved.

Thinking of you.

I am sadder than I thought I would be....I guess with siblings
you remember all the kid stuff you did in a family.

7. How are you doing Tikki ? I've been thinking about you
and your situation all this week. I too have a brother. I don't see him often and he never calls or returns my calls. He's indifferent to say the least. I would be broken hearted if anything happened to him though. I'm so sad for you and hope you have some joy filled memories to comfort you as time passes.

8. Ya know what!!...I am remembering lots of....
things that were kind and loving about my brother...and fun memories, also.
Mr. Tikki has been great about letting me talk (he also knew my brother when we all were teens)
and I have composed...at least in my head... a letter to my sister-in-law and her family.

Thank you so much for your support.

9. That is wonderful. I'm so glad you're remembering the good
stuff! I'm sure your sister in law will appreciate hearing from you. Who knows what the future holds.
Check in once in a while. I know it's only a forum but the folks in this group are truly a caring bunch.
