PS - I can't believe Keith is giving THIS much attention to a Murdoch rag, I don't care how big their circulation is. x(

hear him say so does Murdoch apologize now? And it does show that * and cabal have no control over there at all, even to our people. That or they are allowing it and either way they look bad.

139. Yeah, as in "I saw London, I saw France..."
"I saw women dressed in ways that they would have looked BETTER in their underpants"!

Pats posted one scary Louvre picture! The woman with the white skirt and black hose...OUCH!!! And I thought Keith's gray suit, griddy white shirt and striped tie were a fashion faux pas! That one is almost as bad as wearing diapers to a wedding! Someone should introduce that woman to Dan Abrams, they're made for each other!

They should continue to let him wear what looks good to him, IMO.

247. Hmm. To me, he looks adorable. The outfit does not.
I have never been convinced that grids and stripes go together! If I were a guy, I'd probably never wear a griddy shirt to begin with, but if I did, I'd wear them with plain ties only so as not to give them another pattern to "fight" with.

But that's just me.

We are agreed that the person inside the outfit is irressistible.

I read that blog and I agree. Apparently so does The Donald. :)

Also, the story of Izzy in his blog warmed my heart not only because of the sentiment, but because I, too, loooooved Bucky Dent. He must have mentioned him four times. Mmmm, Bucky Dent!

177. I think I pointed this out before, but...
although The Donald does want to rebuild the Twin Towers, he does not want to rebuild one of them shorter. He wants to rebuild them both a floor HIGHER. The exact opposite of what Keith wants to do.

Because he's an idiot impressed by phallic gestures, no doubt.

And I recently met a cat who has the most amazing thumb-like appendages.

Imagine if cats developed opposable thumbs. Our status as the subservient species would be infinitely compounded.

136. Never underestimate the power of cats.
Roo, believe it or not, liked to play baseball. One Christmas, I took a jinglebell and tied it to a long ribbon, dangling it over his head, and spun it in a circle. If it were a baseball, it would have gone 500 feet!

He also knew how to use his "thumbs" to snag a string or ribbon, which he would use as dental floss.

When I took him in to the vet, I "held his hand" with a finger, and he wrapped his toes around my finger. (that was our "I love you" time) :loveya:

166. I love moments like this that you remember
Like when Blue used to get loose and be gone and gone and gone - well, when I went to England, my step-dad would come over after he got off work to let the dogs out and feed them. If Blue had opened the gate and gotten lose, he would see Ron's truck and come running because he knew it was pettin' and feedin' time.
So, when he'd continue to play Houdini and get out of the gate and be gone, I'd call Ron to come over and, wherever Blue was in the neighborhood, he'd hear that truck and come running home.

 Rev. and a pat in Heaven for your Roo.

It is a world in which I have to go out shopping every day of my life because every day when I come home from work, there is no food left in the refrigerator.

Scary.

Oh, and my family has had many a Maine Coon in their day and my black-and-white one is a Maine Coon. Very doglike in behavior, except for the "obedience" part. She now sits on my thigh and sleeps while I watch Keith. Better than having her butt in the screen, I guess.

Also: PICTURES don't cause riots...but WORDS (as in Newsweek) do?? Whatever happened to "A picture is worth a thousand words"????

I had to laugh at some of the stories on this, couldn't help it. Especially the one that said the President was going to "get to the bottom" of this story...I LOL'ed at my work computer when I happened to take a look at the news and see that one! Had to stifle!

Yeah Ramzey! :bounce:

P.S. His teacher wrote on his report card: "Ramzey has done so well this year. He will do great in first grade. Keep on reading. I am going to miss you!"

I was looking through some ancient Google threads once in which I found that many soccer fans had it in for Keith back in the SportsCenter days. Thought he was always putting down soccer and its fans. Come on, Keith, if you're going to be a baseball nut, you have to allow other people to be nuts about their sports, too.

She used to talk like 90% of the people I spent my first years of college with and 99% of the kids at the school I used to work for!

Of course, Keith hasn't completely lost his accent either...although he has tried...I hear the New Yorker in him every time he refers to a "cahresspondent." Of course, here in the Midwest we know they are CO-respondents. :-)

It really is a great story...and it gave us yet ANOTHER chance to see Porn-Stache Keith, Suspenders Keith AND that wonderful segment I missed last year by becoming a regular fan too late...the one in which Izzy pretends to be a victim of KO's terrible abuse!

"Please don't let him beat me AGAIN!!"

Assuming dzika doesn't give it to us right away, that is!! :-)

But I admit, I'm still trying to figure out what his latest sign-off message meant...OK, so last week I did eventually conclude that "Keep your knees loose" was a goof on common advice given to trampoliners (because of the Bouncing Bay Aire)...as much as I wanted to interpret it another way...:-) but...

"Hang by your thumbs"????

Something tells me Dave Garroway never signed off with that one!

Is he just trying to see how far we KOEB'ers will take our dedication? Will next week's Friday signoff be "Eat a dozen hot dogs, then spin around on one leg"? Who knows??

158. "Hang by your thumbs" is more Bob & Ray...
Been so long since I've heard them that I had to look up the reference -- but Mr. Internets didn't let me down. :-)

- - -
BOB & RAY BOOKS

WRITE IF YOU GET WORK: THE BEST OF BOB & RAY
FROM APPROXIMATELY COAST TO COAST... IT'S THE BOB & RAY SHOW
THE NEW! IMPROVED! BOB & RAY BOOK

Wow! I spend all this time looking for one Bob & Ray book, and I score THREE AT ONCE!

Bob & Ray. Bob Elliott is the father of weird funny-guy Chris Elliott, and played his father on "Get a Life." Enough about that. If I may create a metaphor, it's like discussing Stiller and Meara by only talking about Jerry's kid Ben. This is about the old folks here.

Bob & Ray had a radio show, and it was funny. Really funny. Later, they had a television show and it was fairly amusing as well. The television show was what introduced me to them, since The Comedy Channel used to air them back in the All-Stand-Up-All-The-Time days. Unlike with the Will Rogers book, I can quote big sections of these books that make me laugh out loud:

JIMMY: Gosh-all hemlock, Mr. Science. What's that piece of laboratory equipment you're lighting with a match?
MR. SCIENCE: This device is called a candle, Jimmy.
JIMMY: A candle! Holy suffering catfish. Wait'll I tell all the kids at school I've seen one of those.
MR. SCIENCE: Now, just try to keep your enthusiasm under control, boy. We still haven't gotten to the most amazing part. Watch what happens when I hold this test tube filled with water over the lighted candle.
JIMMY: Golly Moses, Mr. Science! Nothing happened at all.
MR. SCIENCE: Well, that's only because the water hasn't been heated quite long enough yet. Remember, I told you that all chemical properties are converted from liquid to vapor once their temperature rises sufficiently.
JIMMY: Great Jumping Jehoshaphat! The water's started to get all bubbling on top. I guess doing that instead of turning into a vapor offers conclusive proof that water' not a chemical property. Right, Mr. Science?
MR. SCIENCE: No. That's not quite correct, Jimmy. You see, those bubbles indicate that the water is starting to boil. And now, if you'll look closely, you can see steam beginning to rise from the test tube.
JIMMY: Oh, wowie-two-shoes! But that stuff sure looks an awful lot like the smoke that was rising from the candle. You wouldn't try to slip me the old rubber peach just because I'm a gullible child, would you, Mr. Science?

I'm smiling right now, typing that. The rubber peach line was my signature line for a long time. And I used to go around saying "Great day in the morning, Mr. Science!" regardless of the fact that nobody but me understood it. Bob & Ray were brilliant surrealist comics. I like Chris Elliott fine, but Bob was so much funnier.

Write if you get work. And hang by your thumbs.

163. Ah, I *knew* I should've Googled it!
...yeah, I'm still here...

So this is his chance to salute his big favorites Bob & Ray...explains two of his signoffs this past week, the third one being Garroway (which he just may have been in a mood to say at the time..."PEACE"!)

Which reminds me...I was trying to figure out if maybe he did Garroway's signoff because it was his birthday or something. Not so...Garroway was born in July. But I did find a really cool Web site with old news and other footage on it from Chicago TV and other stuff, including a really neat piece of footage in which Garroway introduces a live orchestra/dance performance of Richard Rodgers' "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue"...one of my favorite pieces of music.

You can find it at: http://www.richsamuels.com/nbcmm/garroway/

Extremely cool! And Clark, you used to play oboe, right? Check out the prominent play given to the oboist. Yes, I have heard that passage played even better :-), but still cool anyway. Especially considering it was all done live in the early days of TV, when they didn't have much in the way of special effects to enhance it with.

It all goes to show...you just never know what cool stuff you're going to find in the peripheries of Planet Olbermann!

...I can't seem to get myself as worked up and upset about pictures of Saddam in his underwear as I can about some prisoners in Abu Ghraib who I don't even know for sure did anything wrong themselves, being abused and tortured.

Maybe it's wrong of me but it's harder for me to work up a big head of indignation over even Keith showing it. Not that I think highly of anyone taking or stealing pictures of it. But still.

181. Well, for me it's about dignity, respect, and honor.
Even our enemies are worthy of dignity. Respect is for those who do not get thrills seeing Saddam pictured in his Garanimals. And honor is, supposedly, what this country is all about. Lately, I've been wondering what ever happened to our honor? Even Klingons would be ashamed, claiming "they have no honor."

it's just harder for me to ache for the dignity of those who never cared for the dignity of others. I know, it's a weakness of mine. Human weakness.

At least I guess I get a half-point for not getting thrills over the pictures. I could gladly live without 'em, and don't see the point of 'em, really. Besides the ridicule aspect.

Honor? Sadly, that largely left America long ago. Long, long ago. Yeah, I'm sad about it too.

199. Well, that thing says Pisces, so I thought maybe he'd made ...
. . . the all-important cut.

But Aquarius is better, really, for someone in his profession because Aquarians are supposed to be compatible w/ all the other signs.

My best friend from college is an Aquarian and it certainly is true in her case. She can go anywhere in the world & instantly make friends, and picks up foreign languages like field dogs pick up burrs.

207. OKay, here's what they were doing with the "new zodiac" thing...
See, it's supposed to be a new zodiac for the new millennium.

From the webpage's intro:

- - -
the new signs of the Zodiac are all news reporters. This is due to a breakthrough in philosophical thought: TV personalities represent every human personality trait so far developed.

Whether or not the celebrity chosen is actually of the star sign we chose them to represent was not taken into account. This is for fun, after all. And since this is for fun, we will be adding lists of superpowers for each guardian TV personality, ones that you may invoke in the name of your new "star"...

- - -

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see Keith's/New Pisces' supposed superpowers which New Pisceans are supposed to be able to call upon in times of need, according to the author -- who was JUST FOOLING AROUND.

I guess it's just the news personality's personal qualities they're matching with their new philosophy of each sign. ???

232. Tom Brokaw?
does this mean people have trouble understanding my speech? :)
Other than that, I'll take it!

Capricorn
In Capricorn we have a sure-footed goat, negotiating every obstacle with care. Only getting to the top will do, and a great deal of determination and concentration helps every step of the way. Every decision will be carefully taken so that risks are minimal. Dependable Tom Brokaw is as good as they come.

TOM BROKAW'S SUPERPOWERS
Upon invoking Tom's name, a herd of really powerful goats appear.
Also upon invoking Tom's name you become unshakable, gaining high resilience to attacks. Basically you could very well be the last man standing in an onslaught.

206. I guess I'm gonna HAVE to catch all you night owls the next little while.
For a couple of days next week "Berry After the Show" is REALLY going to be "Berry AFTER the Show." Got a departmental annual meeting at work...people coming in from all over...it's going to take up three days total of our time, and I gotta spend Monday and Tuesday night socializing with my coworkers. Not that it won't be fun...this will be my first annual meeting and I hear the interoffice snark really flies at night...but it will mean having to tape the live Keith (how could I miss all the glitches the crew makes him suffer the first time around--like tonight when they started running the Star Wars footage too soon!) and watch him much later when I get home. I'll probably run my tape before the re-air, but even so...it'll be nice someone might still be around late.

Of course, I know this news is breaking hearts all over...OK, so not quite!! See if I care! *pout* 'Night all! Keep hangin' by those thumbs!

So, now I got a shout-out because of something Keith DIDN'T say...hey, that was an easy one!

For this coming week, I predict Keith will NOT say the following things on the show:

1. "Boy, the Yankees really suck so far this year."
2. "George W. Bush...my favorite president of all time. What wonderful thing won't he do next?"
3. "I have to tell all of you out there, I'm pretty happy. I FINALLY got my picture of Ann Coulter on the cover of Time framed and up over my bed. Va-va-va-voom, what a hottie!"
4. "So, as I was saying the other day to all my old friends in management back at ESPN..."
5. "Bill O'Reilly. I only wish I had half the brains and half the integrity of that man."

from someone that can't surf with a board but can body surf. Makes me yearn for 99 degree days and Cocoa Beach (the best beach in the world IMHO) in July or August when a tropical storm is about 500 miles offshore. Little waves there any other time though always entertainment watching the flyer's from Patrick's Air-force Base play over the ocean getting their air-time in. And a warm shower before you leave to drive back to Mouse-town. Thanks Whirls, even if I am now homesick for my FL life before the repukes took over with theft and lies. Gov. Graham was great, won't mention the evil bro's name in the same sentence.

. . . Not a lot of stress in either job, really, and he is appreciated for both his work and his temperament.

The only thing he doesn't like about the full-time job is that they are forever rearranging the place. He just about gets settled at his new desk -- and they shuffle everybody again! But other than that occasional aggravation, it's a pretty nice place.

He gets a 20% discount at the auto parts place just putting in about 10 hours a week, which is also a benefit.

It's interesting that you and your #1 talk more when he's on the road than when he's there all week. I think it may just be the pattern he's used to; you've been doing the home-only-on-weekends thing for a long time, it seems.

You're probably visualizing each other at your most attractive, while talking on the phone! :-)

Ads long as he likes both jobs that is good, Though the rearranging is a bit different. Having had a hub that HATED his job for a long time and seeing him miserable , liking your job is more important than pay. This job he loves so not so bad to have him gone for almost 5 days. Much better than a miserable man at home. Mostly I am going to bed because the sound of the keyboard is irritating him (as in he needs a warm body there, laffin) I will be off and on tomorrow in between cleaning ferret cages etc. (Alway do them on Sundays) Hugs and night.
