8. And let me just add...I got a kick from seeing Nora cut off Kate O'Beirne
on Softball tonight. What was with that striped jacket she was wearing? Did O'B think she was singing in a barbershop quartet?

As for KO, it looks as if he didn't let the makeup gals do his hair tonight. Much more natural.

And he's wearing the Tigger tie. :loveya:

56. That logic does not compute with them, Rev
Unfortunately, they refuse to acknowledge the beam in our eye, re: torture.

Menchaca got married just before he was sent to Iraq & his wife is reportedly not doing very well. :( Why do these guys have to pay for Bush's sins? If he gets to go to Heaven because he gets "forgiven", I sure as hell don't want to go there or have any part of a religion that says he can.

when he learns that one half of a couple is Republican and the other Democrat, because he thinks there are things more important than politics.

Maybe that was his lame attempt at trying to explain the temporary insanity that led to dating Laura Ingraham.

Keith, there are some things more important than initial physical attraction...

It essentially gives the local churches more leeway in determining who is "fit" for ordination... and they say that sexual orientation should not be a defining factor!

He was saying that he doesn't think that a TV news personality like Rather can be brought down simply by a bunch of outsiders who don't like what he has to say...that it's not going to really work unless the management at his network doesn't like him either. But if they do...ain't nothin' gonna happen to him.

Maybe I'm reading stuff into everything he says, but I couldn't help but feel that that comment was a bit pointed.

143. the transcript for KO's next robot montage (wink)
Sex with robots! Robot sex is what we all need. A robot could be just the thing to wean you off your little sex addiction problem. (And lite cigarettes are healthier for you, too.) Spending too much money on porn and prostitutes? Afraid of compromising pictures and STDs? Buy a robot. It'll do anything you want, any time you want, and never tell a soul. You'll never spend another dime on lap dances or dirty movies because you can program your robot to do anything! (Software not included.) Buy twins for those special occasions!

Sick of the dating scene? Buy a robot! Robots are always on time, always in the mood, and they never say the wrong thing because they only talk when you want them to. And if you're thinking of settling down, why not go robot? Can it get any better than no in-laws?

Married and bored? Buy a robot! The neighbors down the street already have a European one that costs four times as much as the American one which is actually made in China, but hey, it's European. Is your spouse going on a long business trip? Instead of hiding a love note in their luggage, why not send along a greeting they'll really remember? That's right, many fine hotels are now renting robots. Just send a CD with your favorite program and your spouse will enjoy your special touch even when you're hundreds of miles apart.

Concerned about your children's grades? Promise Johnny an uplifting experience if he can bring that D up to a C+ and see how fast he makes the honor roll! Or maybe you're concerned about your children's dating habits? Get them a robot to be their "special friend" and never worry again because the robot has GPS and will constantly inform you of its whereabouts via a discreet messaging system.

Have your children taken the abstinence pledge? Did you know that sex with robots does not count as fornication? It's true; robots aren't mentioned in the Bible as a "shalt not", so it's okay. Yes, you could buy your child a Celibacy Cyborg and help them preserve their virtue until their precious wedding day. Just ask your minister. (Vertical positions not available for some denominations.) Sex with Robots. It's the answer to everything!

Seriously, the first thing I thought of when I saw the "Sex With Robots" story was Jeffrey Dahmer. He claimed he wanted a sex slave and that he tried to turn some of his victims into zombies by drilling holes in their heads and pouring in acid. If Dahmer had had a robot sex slave, would that have been enough to satisfy him? I don't think it would have, since the motivation for lust killing doesn't seem to be simple lust, but rather a need to create fear, vent rage, and assert control. It's the ultimate "owning" of the victim and I'm not sure a lust killer would get the same satisfaction from a robot victim, even if it were programmed to act like a human. (Although I'm imagining a new horror flick -- nonsentient robot subjected to years of horrific abuse by some sicko becomes sentient and then wreaks its revenge.)

And the second thing I wondered was what effect it would have for those people who only marginally function as social creatures. If you have very marginal social skills and you get this human-like thing that you can use as you please at home -- and I'm not talking about the sex so much as the idea that you turn the thing on when you want it and turn it off when you don't and you don't have to deal with it the rest of the time, i.e., there's no "maintenance" -- how is that going to affect your relationship with real people?
