Grumpy, soon-to-be-homeless Keith Olbermann. (And maybe sick too? :-()

Today on Dan's radio show when Dan plugged Countdown tonight, Keith said rather tiredly "Yeah, I think so." Dan asked him what that meant and he said that he was feeling a little under the weather. So if he should change his mind and not show up tonight, we must be kind and assume he started feeling worse and needs his rest.

Poor Keith. He's getting evicted from his apartment building, too. Guess he really is a renter (in a 1951 building). Said that the building owner sees money in the place and is selling. "They're kicking me out, they're kicking all the old ladies out, they're kicking everybody out."

Aww. He doesn't feel well, and he knows he has to go apartment hunting again soon. And then when he finds someplace, he has to MOVE. That alone is enough to depress me. No wonder Dan accused him all through his time on the show of being "grumpy" and saying "What is wrong with you today?"

Of course, I don't expect Keith to end up on the streets. I doubt that will be a problem. In fact, let me be the first to offer him a home if he can't find anyplace else before he's evicted. Never fear, Keith, you can come stay with me. Yeah, I know it's a long commute but heck, we could move Countdown to Ohio, couldn't we? All we need is a TV studio. Think of it as "Secaucus West."

No, I think Keith will find it quite easy to find a home in many places across the country--so long as he's willing to, ah, share his residence. (Crispi, put those handcuffs away.)

4. What can I tell you guys? I take this time of year very seriously.

Let us not forget the words of St. Matthew:

"...the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat;
I was thirsty, and you gave me drink;
I was a stranger, and you took me in;
naked, and you clothed me;
I was sick, and you visited me...

Then the righteous will answer him, saying,

‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you;
or thirsty, and give you a drink?
When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in;
or naked, and clothe you?

When did we see you sick...and come to you?’

It's just emblematic of my nature that if I saw Keith was hungry, I'd give him food to eat. If he was thirsty, I'd give him a drink. He may be a stranger to me in that we've never met, but I would gladly take him in. If he was sick, I would visit him.

In fact, the only real part I'd have a problem with is clothing him if I saw him naked. There, you kinda got me.

*sigh* Oh well :shrug: I expect one of these days the Rev will come along and punish me for misappropriating the Good Book to my own ends. (Notice I took out all the parts about being in prison. Then again, if Keith were in prison for beating Bill O'Reilly to a pulp, I'd visit him.)

6. Berry, If I ever move from this house...

I'm selling everything I can and donating what does'nt sell! A kind of lassitude comes over me when it comes to house moving. Last time I would sit on the couch and think, "Well, better start boxing stuff up.", and then just sit there.

8. the last time my mom moved, she said she'd be leaving her new place

feet foremost. I think she may well get her wish.

That was a decade ago and I still remember packing up her dining room. Two china cabinets and a buffet, all of them quite full. She has four sets of china. Can you say Depression baby overcompensating? On one of her previous moves, one that Dad's employer was paying for where we were having the movers pack us up, they asked Mom if we'd ever owned a restaurant, based on the array of cooking pots and pans in the kitchen. :rofl:

Moving sucks, but we did it so much in my teens that I get restless after I've been in any one place more than a year or two. :crazy:

7. everybody's got stuff

and usually more than they wish they had, when it comes time to box it all up. At least he can afford movers, and the baseball cards are probably stored in custom-sized boxes that can be packed as is into regular moving boxes so he might feel comfortable leaving that task to someone else. It is a shame he has to move, though, as he really seemed to enjoy the view of Central Park from his apartment. I hope he can find another place he likes just as much. Apartment-hunting in NYC must be a bear, especially if you want something with a good view of the Park. :hug: to Keith.

10. I'm sure Keith has less of a headache moving than people who have to

trust it all to their friends with a few trucks (who get paid in pizza and beer), and that his stuff is packaged by now for easier transport, but that doesn't mean it doesn't still suck.

If I were him, I'd still find it very difficult to trust the moving of my valuables to someone else. I have heard too many horror stories about people signing contracts with movers and then having to spend months going after them for stuff they lost or damaged.

Maybe Keith has a plan for this stuff: The movers take the routine things, but HE takes the baseball stuff (or, should I say, gets special transportation arranged for the baseball stuff).

11. well, the horror stories I've heard revolve around things

that happen after the stuff is boxed up (furniture that gets damaged, late shipments, things getting lost, etc.), not during the boxing-it-up phase. If you've had a good moving experience in the past with a professional mover, the thing to do is ask for the same driver again because he/she is sort of the foreman: his helpers change, but he's the one who ultimately oversees how it all turns out and a good driver will be careful with the all-important inventory and supervise the loading process. My parents moved several times over the years, from state to state, but almost always with the same driver; we even shifted our actual moving dates a little one time so we could get the driver we wanted. It was worth it, to know the truck was going show up on time with our stuff intact.

I'm sure KO's got some sort of plan for his baseball collection; it's not like he hasn't had to move it before. Still, finding a new place where he can set it up the way he likes it has got to be a pain, and unpacking it is gonna be a bear, too. You can pay movers to unpack, but I've never know anyone who's actually done that.

In my 11 years of ministry, I have moved 8 different times (in my first appointment, I commuted from my apartment in Durham, then to a temporary apartment, until the parsonage was ready 3 months later.)

Moving sucks. Big time.

Sure, Keith most likely approaches any move he makes with a "plan." But having to implement the "plan" again...that's a bear.

And not everyone can use the same mover every time; it's not always an option. Sad but true...
