Always the best. The Baltic Avenue of Risk. :hi: Clark!

Rep. Ford was pretty good today I heard. He ran across the aisle and called the Repugs pathetic. :)

29. He did?!

He gets accused a lot on this board of being a DINO, but he's not. He has a great record on education, civil rights and most Dem favorites. He really is only conservative on the economy and that's because he's from Tennessee. Hell, we don't even have a state income tax. It's just conservative around here on that issue.

But, I'll have to ask him about that Sunday. I'll confirm it for you guys and goad him into telling us about today. That should be a FUN discussion.

Thanks for the tip and :hi: Pats!

32. Almost... My bad. But still very, very good. :)
Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., charged across the chamber's center aisle screaming that it was an uncalled for personal attack. "You guys are pathetic. Pathetic," yelled Rep. Marty Meehan, D-Mass.

I read it too fast.

31. Hey, hey, hey. Tonight I'll watch Alison.
Schmidt is really Miss Gulch from the Wizard of Oz, has anyone ever seen them both in the same room together. I rest my case.

The Republicans have truly overreached. This is going to backfire bigtime. They have just run smack up against their 'at last sir have you no dignity' moment and they are going to go down.

the woman in Dorothy's real life who rides away on the bicycle carrying Toto in her basket.

She is a witch, throw a bucket of water on her now.

I wanted to grow up and BE Dorothy. That's what I wanted to be when I grew up when I was 5 years old.

Ms. Hamilton was the older woman on the Maxwell House commercials then and my parents told me that's what she really looked like and she wasn't a witch at all in real life.

I can still see those commercials.

And, now, you can, too!

The whole thing is so stupid -- from the voice vote, I actually thought they might not ever beging the resolution to the floor, but it was pretty much on party lines -- something like 7 or so Repubs voted with the Dems and Bernie Sanders. It's just a stupid thing to vote on.

I think that that's the strategy, but they still want to make the points.

Here it is from kos

"Pelosi has sent instructions to members to vote against it. Of course, members can vote however they want. However, Dems should vote against this sham amendment, this nakedly political ploy, and agitate to get Murtha's resolution to the floor for a vote."

48. Oh SHIT! I forgot to tell you guys that we set a date!
It's Jan. 7.

And, here's the cute kicker. We just want a simple ceremony at the house with our family so I needed an elected official.

Let me preface by saying that, outside the strong African-American community in east Knoxville, my district is the ONLY "white" district with Democrats representing us (and we're one of the best neighborhoods in Knoxville. Go figure!): Dem city council member, Dem county commissioners and Dem state House representative.

I emailed my House Rep. Harry Tindell and he said he couldn't do it, via state law, but that his dad, my county commissioner, could AND he was a DEMOCRAT.

So, I called the Dad, Billy Tindell. He hemmed a bit, saying that he hadn't performed a wedding in 15 years, so I said, "Awww... we wanted to get married by a Democrat. There are so few here in Knoxville."

BOOM!!! I had him. He called me the next day from his office and said, "I'm going to do this. You're a wonderful girl, from what I hear."

It pays to work campaigns, doesn't it? LOL!

That's actually the anniversary of when my hubby and I started dating back in 1966. (I really am old, aren't I?)

I think I got our dating anniversary and our wedding anniversary mixed up. We started dating January 8th, we got married June 7th.

See, I am old.

And, no... Keef won't be Flower Boy (although, I must say, I'm amused as to what his outfit would be!).

My son is "giving me away," although, we're not calling it that as not to scare him. We're saying that he's the one who gives the blessing of my hand in marriage to Gavin. He's my Little Man.

First, I loved the woman they sent. I guess that's how they communicate. If the House was waiting for something, they'd want to know ASAP. Is the Senate in session now? It's not on C-SPAN2.

Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 07:50 PM by Clark2008
I loves him :loveya:

He's a Republican who turned coat from the Bushies waaaaay, waaayyy, a long time ago. He's a beauty!

AND, the beauty of his turning coat on the Bushies is that HE was the one who introduced "Freedom Fries." He regrets all that now.

God, I love smart, military people who can see the error of their ways.

:* to my gentle-neighbor and Republican "adversary" from North Carolina: Rep. Walter Jones.

If the ayes have it, does it mean they've passed the resolution for immediate pullout?

The Repukes are voting for immediate pullout?

WTF?

On edit: Of course, it would have to get through the Senate, too, and * would never sign it anyway.

Nevermind -- it's a nonbinding resolution. Still, though, if the Repukes want it to fail, why are they voting yes and the Dems are voting no? What am I missing here?

This is yet another vote to determine whether they will vote on the bill. So, the Repukes want it to pass.

Then there's yet another hour of debate before the actual vote. This will go on for hours yet.
