all 90 minutes of it. Cindy McCain's dress was something to behold, but the rest was perfunctory and dry. That's part of the reason they kept Keith back, I think. No real news there.

37. This levee spillover reminds me of the floods in WI last summer.

I drove the same road I did two months ago, and was stunned to see the regular level of the river, and the remaining damage. The river is about 1/2 mile from the road, but it had covered the road and all the fields within several miles.

My friend and I walked in the Labor Day parade with our county clerk candidate and someone was going to meet us with VIP tickets so we could be sure to get into the rally. We went to the pre-arranged meeting spot and couldn't find her. Then we walked across the street to the plaza area where the rally was being held and spoke with an Obama organizer. He made a couple of calls and came back to tell us the tickets were supposed to be picked up at 10:15. Well, we couldn't possibly have picked them up then, as we were in the parade until about 11. Anyway, he said he'd walk us in without the special passes, but said we wouldn't be able to get into the VIP area. It really didn't matter, as it was so crowded by then (people had been going into the plaza for a few hours already by that time) we never would have been able to get to the special area anyway.

The speaker system was so bad we couldn't hear a word and we couldn't see anything either. He only spoke for 9 minutes -- cut his speech short because of Gustav. Biden was supposed to be there and wasn't, and he was who I really wanted to see, as I'd already seen Barack twice at much better events. Guess I'll just have to wait until the next time they're in town together. Hopefully I'll be able to get away from work whenever it is.

The crowed downtown were unbelievable. So many people had been waiting hours and hours and couldn't even get into the plaza at all.

Yeah, they've sure got nothing better to do. Al Qaeda is probably elsewhere in the airport plotting a hijacking, and these clowns are about to arrest and tase the guy who tries to charge a flight using a kitteny credit card.

The other ad, where the Germans decide not to do business with the guy after having lunch with him because he tries to pay the tab with a card with a picture of a superhero on it? More nonsense. In real life, they'd probably just start up a conversation with the guy about their favorite storylines in the character's comic book series. Not start conversing about him rudely in German right in front of him. (And if they did, he'd probably make a snarky remark about Hitler, give them the finger, and tell his female companion he didn't want to work with them anyway.)

Says it's uncomfortable even to talk about, and asks David Gregory what kind of questions it poses about how well Palin was vetted. Isn't even going to go near the reason why Sarah came forth with this story. Not going there.

Gregory says that Repugs he talks to still think Sarah is a "rock star." Um, yeah, right. Also, when they use the term "rock star" to describe Obama, it's a pejorative that means he's a mere celebrity with no serious governance experience. Funny how that works.
