February 14, 2007

CHICAGO, Ill. (Crime Library) — There have been new developments in the investigation into the murder of Dr. David Cornbleet. During a press conference last week, the Chicago Police Department made public a security video from Sept. 30, 2006, that shows a man purchasing an item at a Home Depot store that is identical to an item that was found at the scene of Dr. Cornbleet's murder. Cmdr. Steven Peterson would not comment on what the purchased item was, but he did say that a bar code on it showed that it was an item sold exclusively by Home Depot.

1. kinda creepy to realize how much surveillance is everywhere.
the killer apparently bought an object used in the crime for cash at a home depot. since it is an item only sold at home depot, they were able to search security tapes, and find a guy who resembles the man seen on security tapes from the building lobby the day of the murder. creepy.
his son says the item is not the duct tape used to restrain him. on the tape it is shown to be a small item. i heard a second hand opinion that the killer was not a patient, but may have been hired by a pissed off patient. but i can't imagine someone would kill for money, but then not take cash that was in the office, or anything else.
his wife has returned to work. i have not had a chance to visit her, but expect to see her later this week.

i bet some true crime fans might have seen the original 'kracker' series with robbie coltrain, that ran on a&e. it was a great show. i loved it. in one episode he makes a speech to a suspect where he screams that 'every murder takes a family and puts it IN THE BLENDER' i don't know how the hell you put one foot in front of the other when this happens. i really don't.
