Georgia Cole said it will take place in a "special setting."

No time was announced.

1. I read today that his daughter did not turn him in, contrary to

rumors at the time of his arrest. I was thinking that she must be a pretty good person if she could do that.

On edit: well shut my mouth, I should have read the link first:

There are conflicting reports on the role DNA may have played in his arrest.

The Rader family's pastor, Michael Clark, said Rader's daughter provided a DNA sample to federal agents. But it was not clear when the request was made or if the sample led to Rader's arrest.

Earlier, a source close to the investigation told CNN that Rader's daughter had not provided DNA to investigators and was not involved in her father's capture. But CNN affiliate KAKE, which has investigated the BTK killings and received messages from the killer, reported that authorities somehow obtained the daughter's DNA and compared it to something they had.

2. On another thread
they were discussing the fact that the alleged BTK killer is also a repuke and that Gacy was a repuke, too.

Needless to say, I let them know that Gacy was a Democrat.

I think that serial killers cannot really be boiled down simply to political affiliation.

3. I agree
It's not the political affiliation that makes/made them who they are, imo.

What's fascinating is that these murders (BTK) have remained unsolved for so long. It will be interesting to see the evidence.

4. He also supposedly confessed.
I cannot believe he was so dumb (unless he wanted to get caught) to lick and envelope with all the info about DNA recently.

5. You said it!
"unless he wanted to get caught" and that could be the case. Seems like he was living a pretty normal life in his community - maybe he felt guilty.

6. I also think some go crazy when they don't get credit
for the crimes they have committed.

7. They could have gotten the DNA off of an old stamp or letter
It will be interesting to see how they put this together. I have a strong feeling that his daughter turned him in.
It seems to me that Rader was probably a TC buff and by now he would have stayed clear from licking stamps (which is unlikely now a days anyway) or the envelope.

8. They didn't need a stamp or letter
He left his semen at some of the crime scenes. Assuming they preserved the evidence properly, that would be an excellent source of DNA.

9. Yeah, forgot about that
I was addressing the post above in regards to him being stupid enough to lick stamps.
