The Elephant in the Room re Crist v. Meeks in Florida
Does anyone remember the Documentary Outrage?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/28/outrage-docume...

Snip from Huffpo article spring 2009: Outrage," a new documentary from filmmaker Kirby Dick, takes issue with the secret lives of closeted gay politicians -- especially conservative Republicans who outwardly oppose gay rights.

The film, which premiered last week at the Tribeca Film Festival, features tell-alls from men who say they've had relationships with various Republicans, including Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Bush strategist Ken Mehlman and former Senator Larry Craig.

You know, as a Progressive - I've tip-toed around this at DU because the last thing I want to do is ever have LGBT member feel hurt at something I've posted. But the REALITY is - is that I am on the left - and for me? I don't care what Crist's orientation is.

What I do care about is those 'indies' and center right Republicans that may have a touch or two, or three, or 20 touches of homophobia running through their veins.

I can't help but think that Rubio is aware of this documentary, and it's the Teabagger's October surprise. So why should I send money down to Florida for Crist? Why should I actively support a person who lies about WHO he is. Who is dishonest with himself? Who doesn't have the testicular fortitude to come out of the shadows when a children in homophobic families do it every single day?

So - does the Democratic Party really want someone who lacks a backbone caucusing with us? Can we guarantee he will?

But most of all - can we guarantee he will STILL get the votes of those who hold hatred in their hearts towards homosexuals that are right leaning independents and so-called moderate Republicans? And if he does get the job -

Can we guarantee someone who hates himself that much - won't take his hatred out on LGBT community at large? Are we really that willing to hold up this guy as a way to beat Rubio? The 'only way'. Now I'm going to check Meek's record on GLBT issues. If he is homophobic - then I'll eat my shoe. But I have a feeling .. . he's not.

1. Thank you for your concern.
Meek is a weak candidate, Rubio would be an utter disaster... Floridians can do the math here better than outsiders.
