Americans United for Separation of Church and State maintains a current list odf legislation involving issues of Church/State separation.

DUer's have witnessed the damage caused by the Bush administration's intermingling of religion and politics. AU maintains a watch on attempts to abrogate the First Amendment, from whichever political direction that assault may come.

If anyone, during these difficult times, is looking for an organization to support AU's cause is an important one.

AU is very much a good cause to support. I am as afraid of government meddling in my church as I am of the church meddling in the government. And if we allow the second, the first will surely follow closely.

As you noted, religious liberty is designed to work both ways; to protect religion from government, and government from religion.

Too often our attention is drawn only by the big conflicts, but there are people and organizations out there battling the numerous little conflicts that slide below the general public's radar.
