Prince Albert of Monaco has a black son

Magazine's Disclosure Clouds the Future of Monaco's Royal Line
By CRAIG S. SMITH

PARIS, May 4 - The line of succession to Monaco's throne, which passed last month to Prince Albert II, the bachelor son of Prince Rainier, took a new twist this week with claims by a former flight attendant that she bore Albert a son in August 2003.

The woman, Nicole Coste, went public with her explosive claim on the cover of this week's Paris-Match, the French picture magazine, which published a lengthy interview with the mother together with photographs of Prince Albert playing with the child at various ages. Ms. Coste, 33, insists that she has given no thought to her son's potential as an heir to the Monegasque throne, but does want Prince Albert to publicly acknowledge that he is the father of the child, named Alexandre.

"I'm not a gold digger," she told the magazine. "I wish simply that he would assume some of his responsibilities."

Monaco's palace spokesman, Armand Deus, would neither confirm nor deny Ms. Coste's claims. "No comment about this story, it's as simple as that," he said. "Nothing will be published, that's all I have to say."

1. If that's true, when it's time for him to claim his throne...
they better give it to him or he may do a Shaka Zulu on them. :-)

2. Oh, he's adorable!
I fear for the future scrutiny he'll be facing, though. Not necessarily as a biracial son, but as ALBERT'S "illegitimate" son.

3. He's now confirmed it
Prince Albert Confirms Son, Raising Questions on Succession

They were willing to change the succession rules when they thought he'd never have a kid now I doubt they'll change it for his kid.

4. Can't find an update
Has there been any sort of official update to the rules of succession? As most of you are well aware, royalty don't normally change the rules to include commoners. I'm sure a "sordid" story as this would have them up in arms.

5. Browsing the articles
Prince Albert has a 2nd child out-of-wedlock, a daughter in California. Without the sanctity of marriage, the children will not be recognized in the line of succession. Maybe heirs in the will, who knows?

6. Damn, he gets around, doesn't he?
How irresponsible to not think about the consequences on future children his actions may have.....
