i love tile
vanity post here of my latest practical artistic endeavor.

http://community.webshots.com/album/251133551iqdgXe

i had a really great time doing this job. i really, really love tile. beautiful, durable, easy to take care of. what more could you want? plus, i love working with cement/mortar and stuff like that.
i have been teasing the hubby that i want to tile the whole house. i have already done- almost the whole finished basement floor, including the backsplash, counter tops, and some of the cabinet floors in the kitchen, plus the bathroom-floor and walls. another bathroom on the 1st floor, and working on the laundry room, plus this bathroom.

so, what room would you NOT tile? or what room would you tile, that a normal person would not?

2. I really like the tub surround mosaic....
how did you collect the tiles for the project?

What room would I not tile? The bedroom....unless I lived in the tropics.

3. i just love tile stores
i have done several other tile jobs here, so a lot of the tile is the little bits left from that. but when i go hardware shopping, if they have tile, i usually look. i buy a few here, a few there. the little stores will often just give you some odds and ends. the bigger stores always have some cool small lots of a few cases for very cheap. and i always buy a little more than i think i will need.
when i have a job to do, i will buy some bigger quantities. but the more jobs i do, the more complex my ideas get. so, shopping gets harder, but the jobs get prettier.
what's out there is getting cooler all the time, too. the last bathroom i did was about 3 years ago, and there is so much more cool stuff out there now.

4. I do too, but I never want to use it,
because I know I'm going to buy another house someday, so in this one I've been doing allot mural painting and decoupage and faux finishes on the ceilings (one looks like red leather w/copper 2' border-my favorite ceiling in the house). But I have boxes of beautiful tiles, and some antique painted ones from Denmark and Portugal.
