Andy Goldsworthy
This morning I watched a documentary about his landscape sculpting. It was on the Starz True Stories channel. It reminded me that art is however you need to express it. Goldsworthy even pins leaves together in long strings and sends them down river. He pounds rock into pigment and returns it to its liquid form when he tosses it into water. I really needed to see this film today.

Some of his works remind me of fractals. But it's not a surprise. http://cgee.hamline.edu/see/goldsworthy/see_an_andy.html

1. I am so movd by his work
his stuff is so gorgeious and oftentimes ethereal.

I have a postcard taped to the wall right here in front of me: a drawing, if you will, of a curvy line through the frost that dusts a frozen lake.
magic.

If you aren't familiar with Robert Smithson's works you might find them to be similarly interesting and beautiful.

His most famous piece is an 'earthwork" called "Spiral Jetty".

2. He is outstanding - one of the few that I still enjoy after
a quarter of a century of appreciation. I think that "Rivers and Tides" will be my 'after xmas' gift to myself.

4. I love "Rivers and Tides" (The documentary) at Blockbuster
beileve it or not. Very soothing and whimsical and intriguing to watch--I'm an earth artist myself, and it reminded me of some of my attitudes as a sculptor. Cool.
