Vacation Photos Part I
Just got back from two fabulous weeks of vacation.

Thought I'd start out sharing some underwater shots first. Please keep in mind that I have not taken underwater photos since Monsieur Cousteau invented the oceans. Also keep in mind that color is lost as one goes deeper, with reds being the first to go. These photos were taken in depths between 40 and 60 feet.

Had a nice rental camera with a short range. Any photos one wishes to take that look like what you see in the magazines takes a much more powerful camera and certainly better lights/lighting.

But all in all, I'm pleased with the results

1. Wow!
Great shots! I like the Grouper, the angle makes him appear rather bored with everything. Where were these taken? :bounce:

5. Thanks. The grouper and several
others on other dives were quite friendly and would follow us around.

These were taken off of Cayman Brac, BWI.

I'd dive there again in a heartbeat.

2. OH YES to the vacation, to the fact you must have scuba dived, to renting a
camera, to courage and daring, and
above all else for bringing "home" such photographs unlike what we usually get to post. They look perfect, I am glad for you, you win the surprise of the week award.
I wonder what it must feel like to be down there in the quiet with the gorgeous plants and creatures that know nothing of what's above.
Your photos give me some of that from your perspective.

Thank you and I will look for more.

6. Thank you for your comments Mira.
It certainly was fun taking photos while diving, trying to capture what I saw, within such camera limitations. I've only posted a few here. The camera rental guy said I broke the record for taking the most photos on two dives! Now that doesn't surprise me.

3. Gorgeous!
And what a great, fun way to combine two hobbies.

That sure sounds deep to me............

7. Thanks Celebration!
Yes, it certainly is fun combining two of the things I like to do most.

Deep? My deepest dive on this trip was 109 feet while diving through some cut-throughs, but I prefer to say between 40 and 60 feet.

4. The flooding is worst than I imagined
You had to spend your vacation underwater?
:wtf:

Beautiful. Awesome. Grab your eyes.

This is something I'll probably never do, but I'd like to. You captured a whole other beautiful world that most of us will never see. I have few faves but they are all great. Thanks so much for sharing these.

Oh, and I'm impressed that you can hold your breath that long. :P
