Parkette Diner in Lexington Ky. If you watch Bobby Flay
you might recognize it. BTW, I had the fried chicken, fries, cole slaw, gravy for the fries, and coffee. Pretty good diner fare. Forgot to take a picture of the meal.

1. Poor Boy and not Po boy?
These are great. I think the one where I can read Poor Boy is my favorite with the nice curve though it is hard to say for sure since they all have that wonderful nostalgic feel.

5. Thanks. I think the curved section is part of the original diner.
Poor boy is probably Po Boy before Marketing got hold of it.

8. Actually I think
the deeper south you get the less letters you hear so lost the second o and the r off poor boy.:) I've seen signs both ways but Po tends to be more LA, MS, AL and some parts parts of GA. Or maybe it is between professional and handwritten signs. It jumped out at me because they don't even know what you are talking about around here.

Saw that about them being happy you were eating. They need a sign that says, take all the photos you want but if you don't eat too we won't be around for much longer. WE lost our last real operating diner around here a few year ago but it was nothing like that. I refuse to count Circle T's as real when classing something as a diner.

11. We still have a few diners around here. The horse farm
workers and all the truckers keep them alive.

BTW, if ever in Nashville try Sylan Park.

http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/472/sylvan-park - One of the best, if not the best, meat and threes.

Rotier"s

http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Overview/464/rotiers - Burger and a long neck beer - heaven

Pancake Pantry, be ready to wait in line. open 9-3 and will see up to 1,600 patrons.

http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Overview/465/pancake-pantry - great for country celeb watching, or to see your favorite Vandy athlete. Chet Atkins used to eat here. Garth Brooks can be seen here from time to time.

14. There used to be a street car diner in Detroit that made the
best beef tongue on a kaiser roll.

There's one in Nashville called Brown's Diner. It looks like a dump, but it makes a fine hamburger.

4. What an awesome looking diner!
My favorites are photos 4 and 5. The facade is just super and I like the perspective of the inside of the diner.

Now you're making me hungry for diner food! ;-)

6. Wide angle comes in handy. I noticed the dust on the sensor
is present in the bottom right of the first image. I will edit it out and replace the image.

9. this is the america i came to in 1964
in the too much info department: i was late teens, alone, with 40 bucks and arrived on a coal freighter from rotterdam

this makes me totally homesick for that time, in a very strange way, 'cause the living sho'ly wasn't easy.

It's a rare retrospective of a vanishing piece of americana save it for the family.
now i want a wide angle lens. asap

good for you alfredo and good for us

16. This site might help you reconnect to that lost American diner.

This belongs to an old friend of mine. Look at the photos down the page.

Dad used to take us here. I would sit on the fender or running board and devour my fish or frog legs.

If you've never had frog legs, you must.

Fourth picture down shows the outdoor dining. In the background you can see some hills. That is Indiana. Along the hills, a few miles to the East, is a tomb of an old river boat captain. The tomb sits upright so the occupant can look out over the Ohio River.

21.  It's a bit of history and whimsey in a sea of fast food chains,
questionable used car lots, "gentlemen's clubs", and convenience stores.
