Looking for a replacement Camera
At present I have 2 DSLR's Both Nikons and both still very much usable. I am thinking that my D200 is getting a little long in the tooth, and I want to replace it with another Nikon of better quality.

Living in the middle of the South Pacific leaves me a little out of touch and unable to pick up and try any camera other than point and shoots here on our island. I would like any and all ideas on what I should get to replace that camera with and it has to be a Nikon that can use all the glass I have collected and use on my D70 and D200 today along with whatever glass I purchase in the future. I am willing to pay in the neighborhood of 2500 for something really decent.

All of you Nikon users out there who have already upgraded from the D200 to what you have and use today I would very much like to hear your opinions...

Thanx in advance

1. I have 3 d700's and I think they are
great... sold a d3 to get the last one... d3's are overpriced and IMHO, overrated.

once you go to full frame, you will not look back

2. The current body in the D200 line is the D300S.
Great camera the D300S. I am still with the D200 and hoping the D400 will be announced in the spring of 2011. The D200 still takes great pics. Since you have waited this long, you might think about waiting for the D400 announcement.

If you are willing to downgrade to the D90 line, the D7000 just came out with great looking specs. However, I really like the extra buttons and the bigger size of the D200/D300 line.

If you are looking to go full frame, the D700 is close to being replaced by the D800. Depending on how many DX lenses you have, there might be extra upgrade costs to this route.

4. First Off
Thanks to all for the ideas, I guess that after I lost my Windoze box to virii about 6 months ago and the learning curve after doing the install of Ubuntu and all the crashing around trying to relearn a new OS and a whole lot of really strange stuff in the new language of Linux and its commands etc. has made me sort of a veggie...

I have used amazon for years while I was in the USA taking care of my mom, but after my cancer and coming home to regain my health, I haven't bought anything from anyone... Thanks alfredo for pointing me in the right direction... Oh, and btw, I have stuck both the D300s and the D700 on my wish list... Now I got to send a note to my hidey hole to see exactly how much I have to spend as that is my stash for things that are normally impossible to get otherwise. When you live in a place where the cost of living is 7 time greater for the cost of living, pretty much of everything is used up by the end of the month. We do economize so we have a pretty decent amount left for the Christmas Season as there are the kids and grandkids to think of and my Vahine gets her presents also, but I do not as I buy my present every 2 or 3 years from the money I squirrel away in the Credit union and forget about until times like this....

I see that both the 300 and 700 use the same battery as I use in the D200 so with the 10 batteries I have at present which ever camera I decide on will be able to fit right in... I see that the D300 has a video camera setting, perhaps, but I never have done any video work or really been interested in video. Not that I cannot learn, but at my age, I'm not sure if I really want it as I love still photography too much and with so much more to learn with a new still camera when would I have the time for doing movies?

Decisions, decisions........

Thanx everyone and I will surely keep you informed on what I finally end up with.....

5. I'm on a fixed income. I can relate. I am saving up for a
mirror less camera. I need the low weight due to my degenerative disc disease.

I hope Canon comes out with a mirror less so I can use my Canon lens. Anyway, people seem less threatened by an "amateur" camera.

drool worthy rangefinder but impractical for my needs. Fujifilm X100
