I apologize for burdening the board with this weirdness, but I need to clarify something

OK, look, this will be my last post on this, but I feel i need to clarify my drama-queen behavior:

I asked for the "consensual" voluntary tombstoning because of primarily one simple thing: despite having the discipline to wade through 140+ books in my grad program (90 of which I am tested on; 45 down, 45 yet to come) I seem to lack the discipline it takes to stay off of reading/posting at DU, and to buckle down to finishing the prep for my final written/oral exam; my last hurdle.

It's a tough one.
It's coming late next month.

Part of this discipline problem has me spending time trying to snap photos to post in the photo group, time I HAVE to spend getting my scholarship in order.

I didn't handle this well; I wish I hadn't posted my previous OP, but I wanted to make it clear that my "tombstoning" (whenever the admins get around to it) was voluntary on my part, not because I'd committed some horrible act on the boards (except for some of my photos, which I am quite certain fall into the "acts of abomination" category in some eyes).

I wish I hadn't posted the OP but had rather simply let Mira handle it when I informed her, via PM, of my need to remove my photo from this month's contest. I determined (too late) that I shouldn't have entered; that shot had no chance of winning, but if some fluke of poor judgement had occurred out in the GD community, I would be stuck hosting a contest I already don't have time for.

I didn't want to have to explain the lack-of-discipline thing, just on general principle. However, the way I handled this thing made Mira feel awkward, added an unwelcome/unasked for element of melodrama to this group, and was just stupid.

To use a famous phrase from Conrad (or Apocalypse Now, if you prefer film) : my method was unsound (and pathetically ridiculous, though Conrad didn't say THAT, as far as I recall, but I digress...)

I hope you all will forgive me for this major injection of weirdness and melodrama; you are a great group of artists.

I have received some nice comments and PM's, and I just hope to clear this up.

I wish I had stuck with simply PMing Mira, and kept my public yap shut; I didn't, and I apologize for that.

I made it everyone's business by posting in the manner I did. Nobody has said anything to offend me, I made the mistake of not simply letting Mira and the admins handle it.

Mira offered to make a much clearer, shorter, less ambiguous statement, but I was too stubborn about wanting to avoid any big explanations; that was a mistake on my part. I could have easily allowed her to remove my photo without offering any explanation and, when the tombstone showed up, the admins could have made it clear regarding my situation, since I did explain it to Skinner in a PM.

I just apologize to everyone for making such a freaking melodrama (on my part) out of what could have been a very simple thing.

6. The admins would never give an explanation.

I am glad to understand more of what is happening, but they would never have provided it. (About half the regulars in one dungeon signed a letter asking for some less bias by the admins there and got no reply.)

Our imaginations can create almost anything in the absence of knowledge. (See Tea Party and 9/11.) This is what I thought was the case, but having it confirmed is a relief, since there are other (no guesses) sadder things that might have happened.

God knows what my life would have been like if the Internets had been around when I was in grad school. Might have made thesis research easier, but all the other stuff, like DU, certainly would have been a time suck. Time management has never been one of my strong suits.

but me thinks, that now Adsos Letter has made it clear why the site needs to be on the back burner, it may actually be easier to leave this site alone until time is more available.

There is something about all of us being on the same page. We could, as Celebration suggests, remind Adsos that this is the wrong place to be for the next few months. Doesn't that sound like a lovely community, supportive effort?

Either way, I actually understand the inadvertant drama, and really, it's no big deal. I must admit to being a little relieved knowing it's your way to focus on your studies and not because there was some nasty disturbance somewhere.

DU Photo Group is like a big fat chocolate bar. If it's within arms length it's almost impossible not to take a bite. I understand this. Even when I was on vacation, whenever I had a chance, I'd check in, look at the photos and maybe place a comment or two. I may not post a lot of photos but I do take the time to see what others are doing.

I do hope Adsos will take a few minutes to look every once in awhile.
