And the April contest theme is....
STORMS!

I can't believe we haven't had that theme yet!

Hope this is okay with everyone. This winter seems to have sent some wild storms to every part of the country, so I think it will be fair too.

Okay?

I'll get the entry times and all of that up soon.

1. WOW = Storms !
I bet you have no responses because maybe others like myself are scrambling as we think: "How do I depict that?"

My first reaction was to turn off and think, realizing that during a bad storm I'm taking cover, even during a moderate one, really.

So, in my own case, maybe a bit myopic, I hope that you mean "the aftermath".
I am going to assume that, and maybe it starts a bit of discussion of the topic.

The aftermath, once and if we agree on that, also pretty much precludes going out and shooting for most of us, since we can't predict storms in the next week or so. And we then go to our files.
Which is OK with me.

One thing I have learned since hanging out here, which is going on a year and a half soon, is that my extensive photos, good, mediocre or bad, have a little bit of almost everything.

Let's talk amongst ourselves about "Storms".

2. I think there are lots of storms predicted
And I suspicion folks have lots of storm photos in their files.

And I hope for the actual storm, within safety considerations of course.

But whatever folks want to do in relation to storms is fine, as per usual.

3. Great topic!
This leads to lots of possibilities:

Pre-storm: clouds rolling in. Probably lots of dramatic light.
In the storm: Shots of the rain/snow, wind, lightning, etc.
Post-storm: Clouds rolling out, damage left behind. Probably lots of dramatic light.

4. Cool.
I actually might have something. We've been getting a lot more "weather" than usual here.

5. Cool!
We take lots of storm pics here because, well, we have lots of storms.

I think I have just the one, although I don't think it's really great as a photo.

:hi:

6. Here's the good thing for me
I don't have to choose among pictures. I have exactly one that would make a decent entry--no more!

7. There was a huge windstorm on Friday
If I'd known the theme, I might have set foot outside. Nah, I'd still have huddled under the bed until it was over.

9. I figure to give it 2 weeks
Not put up the preliminary until around the 19th or so. We should all get another storm in by then, right?

And if not, then my "luck" would have kicked in which would be for all things to go kaplooey whenever possible; and we'd get two weeks of spring, and who would complain about that??

10. You're handling this like a pro. I love it. I also like the idea as you present it, and
that it stretches me to the max.

We had, less than a week ago, serious storms rake through NC, with 8 tornadoes. A few were just 13 miles from me, one maybe closer.
It NEVER occurred to me to go for the camera. :)

I think this one will be even more fascinating than others.

If your luck kicks in, as you say, the country will be spared destruction, people will enjoy the two weeks of spring, and we will be left to be creative in labeling stuff from our files.

I love it!
I also am impressed with you stepping out of all the listed possibilities and find a brand new one.

12. lol, you should see me scouring the archives
How long for this and how do I word that and then there are the helpful PMs :) with advise and moral support. Whew!

I read the controversy about the alien landscape, and then someone posted all the themes we've had, then someone said Showers Duh, and then I saw that we hadn't had storms! It just seemed right. I hope so.

You'd think I'd have a ton of storm pictures, living at the ocean. But I don't. I always think I should go take storm pictures, but when it's actually raining, brrr, who wants to go out in that. lol.

11. That should be an interesting theme...
There are bound to be storm-in-progress and aftermath photos but I wonder how many will attempt a non-weather related interpretation.

13. Storms???
Cool!

I might even have something I can use...I'll have to check.

I think we're about done with them here...

Hmm...

This should be fun!

I approve!
