5. Speaking of menus.....
a colleague of mine gave me a copy of a menu from the Rialto Cerveceria, which had the following English translations:

National Squid Gangplank

Couches of Gluttony

Fried Black Poplars

Rape Marinera

Soup of Authority

Keel end to the oven

Loin of long bone-ration

Bacon of sky

Home-loving flan

Loin of Luff

:D

6. That's hilarious!
The only word I could figure out for sure was gangplank - plancha (meaning Smorgasbord).

Maybe we need another website like Engrish.com, but for Spanish speakers. We could call it Inglich.com

9. Hey Xipe, glad you liked it!
The "gangplank" is one of my favorites. That would be calamares a la plancha, right? Mmmmm!

Another one of my favorites is couches of gluttony. I found an illustration of that:

I like your Spanish speaking version of Engrish.com idea. One could also have one that included massacred translations from any language called "Englitch.com".

against eating certain animals and wearing fur.
This is hysterical.
Thanks.
Don't know just WHERE I was looking.

8. I swear,
a few of these have clones in my house.
Except for the "Culinaria" Spain, here it is bright blue and the name is "Culinaria" Germany.

A fun photo, and a nice idea to take it.

15. Your cookbook shelves look like mine,
I recognize a few of those books from my own collection. Lord Krishna's Cuisine for one and I think I have that Flavors of India, as well. Is that a Moosewood cookbook on the bottom shelf?

16. Moosewood. You are right!
You are seeing one half of three shelves of a five shelf library; my wife's lifetime collection of cookbooks.

You can see which books she reaches for the most often, by the shape of the dust covers.

Cuisines of Mexico is her favorite.

17. Oh, thank goodness, cookbooks!
I loathe all the menus on digital cameras. Focus, aperture, shutter speed. That's all I ask.

Now I'm hungry.
