External flash for my Canon G10
Here's two I am thinking about

The Sunpak RD2000

and the

Canon 270 EX

The Canon costs nearly twice as much as the Sunpak, is there any reason to go with one over the other regardless of price?

1. I don't really know anything about external flash; however
if it's the same "Sunpak" that made my tripod, the quality of construction was lacking a bit. Not horrible, but less than expected.

This probably doesn't actually help you at all.

And yet, I'm posting it anyway...

Must. Find. Help.

ugh.

3. I was just reading Digital SLR Photography (a British magazine) last night
and they did a comparison study of 10 external flashes. They rated the Sunpak at 3 stars out of 5 and the Canon at 4 out of 5.

Their verdict on the Sunpak:

Fairly well-built and gives good coverage, but let down a little by its warm tint and a general lack of features.

As to the Canon:

One of the most expensive flashes on test, but the build quality and exposure results speak for themselves.

4. The bitterness of low quality lasts longer than the sweetness of low price.
